Just because you're afraid doesn't mean it was the right thing to do.
As I've said many times. Automatic qualifiers are bullshite. Conference champions are bullshite. All conferences aren't equal, and there's no reason for an automatic seat at the table. There's ESPECIALLY no reason to ever have a second place team from a lesser conference.
This came from the same people who make sure their kids get goddamn participation trophies.
