When Saban took the Bama job the LSU roster was full of guys he recruited to LSU. If the portal was around then Les wouldn't have made 5 seasons at LSU. Saban would've picked who he wanted from LSU.

Florida St got a national championship out of Jimbo also.

If DeBoer fails to do well it won't be because he followed Saban. He has everything he needs to succeed and more than he has had in the past when he did succeed.
With better QB play this year Alabama is likely undefeated.
