Got this email this morning... Seems like the fan base is not enthused.

Dear Tiger Fan,

War Eagle! ??

The final countdown is here. Just THREE DAYS remain to amplify your support for Auburn and potentially win an incredible Lexington getaway.

We're so close to our $1M goal, with $465,192 already raised for Auburn student-athletes. Your contribution can be the game-changer we need.

It's pretty bad timing.

I have a 9 year old and a 10 year old to play Santa for and a wife.

After the buyouts of Gus Malzahn and Steven Leath, I determined that no amount of money I am likely to ever have in my lifetime is enough to move the needle on the kind of stupid going on at Auburn.

But hey, let's keep looking for that mobile QB and the mystery offensive coach that will make him work. Someone way up the food chain is really obsessed with that.

For tax purposes of course. OTV is not a medium for that.

It’s a NFP, you can write off whatever you give.

It's pretty bad timing as I currently pay out of state tuition for my kid to attend Auburn

Unless there is some weird thing where you can’t write it off for some reason.

Don’t care, writing it off

I'm not sure what type of NFP entity OTV is, but I'm nearly certain you can't 100% deduct your contributions

I mean yeah that’s the purpose but that’s when they dole out checks whether it’s for a tax deduction or not.

No you cant.

IRS shot it down for obvious reasons.

Correct, there are no deductions allowed for these NIL collective donations.

After they way they fricked up the fan experience by monetizing tailgating I’ll never donate a fricking dime to Auburn athletics.

It’s just the way of the world now, brother. Everything that can be monetized will be. Digital payments has been a huge enabler of that and you can’t stop the train. I used to be able to go sit on the opposite side of the football field in Mtn Brook with my dog and watch the game in peace from the OUTSIDE, but now they have a tent there too charging for sitting on the bare concrete steps.
