Common sense approach to selection

Money drives the whole thing. Advertising, tv ratings, tv markets, fans ticket sales.
Bama vs penn state or Notre Dame is a huge country wide view. SMU vs either of those are 1/2 the ratings. If you don't think that plays in you don't live in reality. More viewers, more money, more demand for tickets, higher ticket prices.
SMU has lost its only 2 top 25 opponents games they have played. Best win is in OT against Duke who's schedule strength is 68.
The committee has said schedule strength plays a factor. If they let SMU in, then they are setting a precedent that weak schedules are fine with no quality wins, you can still get in.
If Bama doesn't get in, I'll never have to see milroe play for Bama again so I'm good either way

Of course it does, all the money comes from the networks, which is why we get a 150 lb kid named Timothee as the guest picker on Gameday.

The same applies to SMU. Win the games you need to win. Especially when you have a bottom 1/3 strength of schedule.

So let's just give the spots to the teams with the highest viewership and ignore records. The sport is a joke with NIL and Portal anyways. We can just call in and vote for who wins each match up.
