The game was played during the regular season? How far would #8 fall if they lost to #17? If more than 3 spots then what are we even talking about?

They would fall out of the top15, behind Ole Miss and USC.

You gonna punish them for playing in a conference championship while Alabama was sitting at home counting their dick today?

Of course you would, Just like how last year UGA had every single 1st place AP poll vote going into SECG and had won 2 nati's in a row, and lost by 3 small points to Bama who has won 6 nati's recently with Saban, best program of last 15 years.

If you're going to drop a team that had 100% of 1st place AP poll votes for losing to the most dominant program by 3 points form #1 to #6, then absolutely you'd get booted for losing to Clemson at bare minimum 3 to 4 spots.

That was under the 4 team CFP.

New rules, baw.

There aren't new rules saying conference title losers won't be booted.

Also, it makes no difference whether 4 or 12 teams. A loss is going to drop you 4 spots or so regardless if there are 4 playoff teams or 12. That is inconsequential.

Some teams have dropped anywhere between 4-8 spots after a loss. We’ll see what the committee decides

And to be clear, I don't think SMU drops out because of what the CFP committee has said about the CCGs.

I have absolutely no idea if they are going to vector off from what they said last week.

They never said that they won't drop a team who loses a CCG. I don't know where this narrative came from that they did say that.

NOOO we should never punish a team for playing in the vaunted, elite, prestigious AcC cHaMpIoNsHiP gAmE and losing

We'll see man.

From what was said last week, I got the impression that they wouldn't drop a team for losing, but would move up teams for winning, but of course that would mean a team that won could jump a team that didn't play or lost.

Alabama did nothing today to improve their chances of making it into the CFP.

Again, I have zero faith in this year's committee. They got it right last year but these guys suck.

I didn't see a Jamal Murry on the CFP committee, but maybe I need to clear my browser's cache.

Bama lost to freaking 5-5 OU by 21 points and only dropped 6 spots and stayed the highest ranked 3 loss team.

SMU just lost to a #17 ranked team in an extra game, and you want them to drop more than 4 spots?

Oh and ignore they only have 2 losses by 6 combined points to ranked teams, played an extra game and have 2 more wins.

Tough question coming from a team that lost to two 6-6 teams and sat at home this weekend. Both SMU’s losses are miles better.
