Probably a stupid and petty concern, but I think the playoffs will screw up how game records are totaled. Bama has most wins and games played. If Bama loses in first round of playoffs, I assume it’s bowl games played numbers will not increase (I don’t see how they could).

However, certain teams could have their total games played (and bowls won) increase by two this year if they play/win in quarterfinals and semifinals (both of which are bowl games).

Again, probably meaningless but not ideal for what I view to be two pretty cool Bama records.

Honestly I think they should just do away with bowls at this point. I'd rather them be a pleasant memory than see them reduced to the college football NIT.

It will also screw up stats. Jeanty from Boise State is close to breaking Barry Sanders' single season record of 2628 yards. What's super dumb is that we know Barry Sanders ran for 222 yards and 5 TDs in the bowl game, but the NCAA won't add those stats. So Jeanty has played 12 games and has 2288 yards and Barry played 12 games and had 2850 yards, but the NCAA won't count it that way. Jeanty will get at least 2 more games. It would be a travesty for him to get recognized for the record if he ends up getting more than 2628 yards.

It is practice - and a chance for the younger, less experienced guys to travel to a nice destination and receive a few goodies and have fun. I would think it could be a morale booster.

I think there should be an NIT CFB 16-team tournament for the 7-9 win teams.

I have nothing against Jeanty but people keep comparing his numbers to Barry is annoying because it is not remotely comparable like you showed

Kinda like how people kept saying CMC breaking Sanders all-purpose record is why he should've won the Heisman over Henry. Technically true he broke the record but not near as impressive

Yep. Any snaps you’re young enrollees can get and your returners is always a good thing

I could get behind this. It would be good entertainment for college football fans everywhere.

NIT CFB 16-team tournament

I wonder how that would affect opt outs?

Bowls use to be a reward for good teams. Now there are so many bowls I have lost count. I am waiting for them to have a Kirby Smart Haircut Bowl.

Why would it make any difference? If you're opting out because the bowl isn't a national championship, why would you opt in for a consolation tournament?
