Is DeBoer the favorite for Coach of the Year?

Moving on from all the playoff talk, is DeBoer the favorite for the various COTY awards? The guy waltzes into Tuscaloosa, replaces the GOAT coach at the GOAT program, and doesn’t just tread water—he flexes. The roster? Absolutely pillaged during that post-Saban “open season” “one way” portal. But Kalen? He calmly picks up the pieces and somehow has Alabama sitting at #2 for the 2025 class (with the highest star average, no less).

And let’s not forget, this isn’t just about roster building. While other coaches are tripping over themselves trying to get to the playoffs, DeBoer’s (probably) already there, comfortably kicking back as Championship Saturday approaches, allowing him to rest his players and prepare for a run. He has exceeded all expectations and I’m sure that fellow SEC fans (even those that tend to dislike Alabama) can put those feelings aside and recognize greatness.

So, is DeBoer 2024 COTY a done deal? Please, serious conversations only. Keep the deranged lashing out on the other threads.

I would have said Beamer for SEC COTY, but the CFP Committee made me come to my senses. DeBoer should win in a landslide.

Shane Beamer is definitely the front runner, playoffs or not.

Against Vandy he did tread water but drown anyway. Against OU he ended up stiff as a board facedown in the water flexing, also known as rigamortis

Making the playoffs in year 1 is quite an accomplishment. He's the man.

Brian Kelly already won next years National Championship.

I don't think that's ever been done before, he should win.

Why not? He lost by 21 pts to Oklahoma and has 3 losses & still managed to make it in the playoffs with an easy path. Sure give it to him

Flexes? At times it took Saban four years to lose three games. It’s Beamer this year.

There’s a guy at Indiana that just won at least 11 games in year 1 and made the playoffs.

There’s a guy at SMU that won at least 11 games in their first year in a major conference since the 1990s and may make the playoffs.

So no, DeBoer will not win a single coaching trophy this year.

Coach DeBoer is the best coach in CFB and it'd be well-deserved....
