On September 1, 2024 SEC refs protected the wrong team.

Yes I said it and yes I believe it.
You have to look back at this game with the lens of history and where the teams were at the time. LSU was coming into the game with a Top 15 ranking and a single loss vs a ranked Southern Cal team. They were picked as one of the playoff contenders at the beginning of the year. The are a National brand with a recent National Championship. A second loss and they might be out.
SC came into the game picked to finish last or next to last in the SEC. They were undefeated at the time having knocked off Kentucky at the beginning of the year. There were no expectations for them and the CFP.
We all know the story line after that. Superman finds kryptonite, but another hero steps up, only to have the SEC refs make SEVERAL blatant calls that were favorable to LSU. At the time it seemed like they were protecting another team with a path to the playoffs.
But as the season played out, it turns out they did the opposite. Those BLANTANT bad calls, particularly the one that called back the pick 6 in the 4th, is going to cost the SEC another playoff spot. Right now, a SC with 10 wins gets in and it's no discussion.
Good Work SEC, Good Work.

Wrong. The sky cam view shows that Nussmeier had the ability to make a play on the ballcarrier.

Only because Nussmeier laid their like a worn out pussy after he was hit.

Oh this stupid narrative again?
That hit, regardless of how hard it was, is going to get a penalty 150 times out of 100.
It was a stupid hit. It was unnecessary. And it was a penalty.
Get over it - SC blew that game. Maybe you should have scored more than 3 at home against Ole Miss.

I think Nussmeier will make a better actor than QB. He should pivot.

No, this is a new narrative.
It's not about the legitimacy of the call, it's about SEC ref bias towards the "top" teams...

The flags sucked but they probably wouldn’t have mattered had Sellers not gotten hurt. Despite all that, all we had to do was not jump on 4th and 5 and we still would’ve won.
But it is what it is. We lost a couple of close games and won a couple of close games.

It was a stupid fricking play. Nuss took advantage of it. I agree that SC deserved to win the game. LSU played like shite. But it was an incredibly stupid hit.

Using this call, specifically, is not new for you.
SC is on a tear and they look solid.
Here’s what lost that game - Sellers going out with injury / being limited and the kicker missing a tying FG.

Because it's the most obvious answer to multiple bad calls in the game and the board is familiar with it.
Did you never take a debate course in school?

I see where you're going with this melt.

Terrible call, all his protections as a QB were gone. He was a defender needing blocked

Stop being a fricking bottom feeder, win something, and you won’t have this problem.

Congrats on a great comeback win Saturday Lonnie.

win something,
What do you think we're trying to do by making our case to get in the playoffs?
All we're asking for is a shot.
I'm 50 something year old. My parents are in their 80's. Is it too much to ask for JUST A CHANCE to see my team win it all before I or my parents die?
Your team has won one. Don't be so dang greedy.

We've been saying this about Bama for years, but where were you then?

I rewatched that game yesterday, happened to see it in my YouTubeTV library just sitting there. Figured, what the heck I could skip through commercials.
It was actually a good game except for the refs. They had a couple of inconsequential missed calls here and there on both sides .... but man oh man they had two really bad calls against SC and two REALLY BAD no calls that also went against SC and helped LSU.
I'm not bitching or complaining, it is what it is and it's in the past. The SEC home office has apologized (and that crew was relegated to officiating non-conf games the rest of the year I heard) ... but the refs had WAAAAAAAY TOO MUCH influence on the outcome of that game. Way too much. And it always seemed to be major momentum swinging plays, or non-calls, and twice there were even official time outs called for crazy video reviews on obvious calls when LSU was on their heels.
If anyone that truly understands the nuances of the game rewatches that game, while trying to be subjective and keeping biases in check .... holy cow there were some really questionable things that happened in that game.
Originally we all assumed that SC filed the complaint about three specific moments ... but during the Wofford game I was milling around up there at the bar and was told there were actually 13 suspect issues filed.
I think, after rewatching that game yesterday, I think there are ten that are pretty easy to spot and/or question.
I was happy to see my old buddy Jack Bailey get the lifetime Gamecock award ... he's been doing the video work for 40 years now. Time flies.
