At this point there is no way for the committee to omit the SECCG loser. Some three loss SEC team is getting in and if the SECCG loser has three losses that is the one in.

Playing in Atlanta is all up side with no down side other than not being SEC champ.

I'm not so sure.
If A&M upsets Texas in a close game, then obviously they move up in the rankings.
But if we beat A&M convincingly in the SECCG, they will have 4 loses and I think the selection committee might pick either Alabama or South Carolina over A&M since SC dominated A&M in Columbia but obviously it depends on how all the teams finish their regular seasons.
If SC beats Clemson and Bama looks weak vs Auburn, then I would pick SC over Bama but who knows what a B1G dominated committee will do. hahaa

So in that scenario the 4 SEC teams in the playoffs:
1. Georgia
2. Texas
3. Tennessee
4. Alabama or South Carolina

If we lost to unranked GT at home, then lose to UT/AM we would have 4 losses...that would put some serious pressure on the committee as well.

Yeah, you are right. I forgot about A&M's loss to Notre Dame.

I didn't think all of this through very well. This season has warped my brain.

I was looking at some of the college football writer nerd's CFP projections this morning and apparently there's still a real scenario that we could host a first round playoff game even if we lose the SECCG.

Might seem counterintuitive until you look at the standings and realize "who the frick else would they put in"

I think so too losing to unranked OU.
Bama looked lost on offense and defense.
But they did lose on the road and if they dominate Auburn and SC loses to Clemson, then Bama might be the best option for a 4th SEC team in the playoffs, or maybe we only get 3 teams in.
As I said, with a B1G dominated selection committee, who knows what might be decided.

Unless the loser has 4 losses. Which is possible.

We’re in the SECCG now so need to focus on GT and get our minds and souls ready for the run.

Only one thing left to do:

Horse shite.

One, if A&M makes ATL and loses, they would have 4 losses, so the committee would 100% omit the SECcg loser.

Two, if Georgia loses in ATL, it’s still not 100% that we would get in either though.

Disagree. If Georgia loses in ATL, they just played an extra game that they wouldn’t have had to play otherwise. You could call this missing out on a ‘bye week’ like Tenn or Texas potentially will get to enjoy.

So Georgia plays the extra game in ATL, suffering whatever injuries may occur, and getting banged up in an extra SEC contest…..then goes immediately on the road in two weeks instead of having three weeks off. That’s a pretty big downside.

Another downside is a potential third game against Texas or a second game against A&M further down the playoff road somewhere.

The biggest and really only upside to making ATL, in my opinion, is that it gives us a path to to the playoff should we get upset by the nerds Friday night. Which is entirely possible given how this season has shaken out.

Those who are dismissing any downside to making ATL aren’t being very logical . It’s an emotional and stupid argument if you ask me

I think all of our brains are warped now. But I think I'm beginning to like this new system.

The last two Saturdays have been a blast. There is so much riding on so many games for so many teams. Coach and player nerves are wearing thin. UGA's tough schedule ended up being a blessing because, like SC, we completed the SEC slate early. The Vols are going to be nervous as hell at Vandy next Saturday.

A three loss SEC team is a stretch.

Nobody wants to see a 4 loss team have a shot at a Natty.

This is why we have to be laser focused on this game with the intent to blow them out of the stadium early. We can NOT go in there thinking about the SECCG.

I have an idea on how to do this…..

I’m liking it that so many of the “see if Georgia had played in the West” tards are having to eat crap. Even with one of our least polished teams in the past few years, and arguably the toughest SOS in CFB, we have a golden opportunity to be the champs of the best conference in football. Life is good.

I have to admit that it’s been entertaining and counter intuitive that a LOT of these games have been more critical down the stretch than I would’ve guessed. And with the parity some of these upsets have been unreal and awesome to watch.

Our schedule sucked this year….but looking to next season man, there are some great home games coming up.

this committee has shown to be a bunch of bumbling fools with no consistent rhyme or reason in anything they do, so I certainly wouldn't say it's a slam dunk.

Logically speaking we should absolutely have a spot locked in (assuming a tech win) no matter happens in the SECCG. But if we do end up wtih that 3rd loss I'll be sweating bullets until the final announcements are made.

Losing a conference CG should never keep you out, if you would have gone otherwise.

This committee is big ten centric this year so I would not be surprised if the SEC gets screwed over.

I don't think most SEC people understand the level of hate big ten people have toward all things SEC.
It is something to behold.
