A tree holding a bald eagles’ nest that was at the center of a controversial residential development in Auburn was cut down over the weekend, city officials and news outlets reported on Saturday.

The tree containing the bald eagles’ nest at the Heritage Ridge development has now been cut down by the developer and landowner, Edgar Hughston Builder, Inc.”

quote:

WRBL shared video footage posted by Auburn resident John Braswell shows the tree and the destroyed home of bald eagles, Jim and Pam, off North College Avenue near the E.W. Shell Fisheries Center. Jim and Pam are named after characters from the sitcom “The Office.”

quote:

“Please know that this decision was made with respect for the environment and the welfare of these magnificent birds,” said the company. It later revealed a recent donation to the Alabama Conservation and Natural Resources Foundation “to support ongoing conservation efforts.”

The developer plans to build 46 homes surrounding the nesting site.

The eagles had been a beloved part of the community for more than seven years.

Auburn said frick them trees

Seems like that would be illegal. I sorta thought we weren't allowed to mess with Bald Eagles or their habitats.

At any rate... frick the developers. Hope they don't sell a single home.

While I do agree with land owner rights, that’s kinda screwed up.

Story is either bs or they knew. 2 bald eagles permanently nest in a tree on my family ranch and they’re visible daily. They frequently land and stay grounded while looking for prey and the nest is visible from the ground looking up

Where an actual majestic live eagle soars across the face of fans pregame, but they want to be referred to as the generic “tigers”.

Who is “they,” numb nuts?

It was a frickbag company who ignores city ordinances in the name of greed and profit. Not one connection to Auburn destroyed an eagle’s nest. It’s a Georgia-based company who can go straight to hell for all anyone is concerned.

This is against the law. You need a federal permit to do this. Feds needs to fine $250,000.

"In what can only be described as a strange turn of events, we have discovered that the owner of Edgar Hughston Builder, Edgar Hughston, was the nephew of Harvey Updyke, disgraced Alabama fan who poisoned the trees in Toomer's corner. We are closely following to see if there is a connection."
