Always bought a Dell. Any good suggestions? Thanks.

I couldn't tell you about viruses, because I've always had a MacBook and/or a Mac PC. If you have an Iphone, there's truly truly no reason not to buy something else.

What are your requirements?
Are you into gaming or graphics design at all or do you mainly use your computer for business or casual internet browsing?

I am usually a PC guy, but I like MACs too. I picked up a really nice refurbished Macbook pro from Best Buy for around 300 bucks.

I like Dell Precision/business class laptops but I can tell what I hate about the last 2 models I had. The keyboard keys break off. When that happens you can't replace the keyboard without taking the entire laptop apart which is an insane amount of labor.
The other laptop I have always liked is the Lenovo T series. The keyboard and laptop is pretty durable. They aren't as durable as they used to be but the keyboards don't tear up like Dell. Here's a refurbished one

I7 processor with SSD, is what I recommend. Any brand.

Do not buy intel. Decide which AMD chipset and processor fits your needs. Do you need a dedicated graphics card? For most people graphics provided by the CPU is sufficient. Choosing brand names between Dell of Hewlett Packard makes no sense. Read some reviews and learn a bit.

Laptop for basic web surfing, shitposting, youtube vids, accidentally clicking on porn?
Or gaming online?
Or running cpu intensive programs like AutoCad?
Compatibility with docking stations with multiple monitors, cameras, microphones?
Building a digital recording studio?

LOL. It does. But yah, have to know your requirements. If you just want a pc to surf the web and use Microsoft Office then for me a Lenovo or Dell business class is good. I think most games run on Windows O/S too, and people are more familiar with Windows o/s. MACs are good but not everyone is familiar with MAC OS. I suppose Chrome books are fine and cheap if you are just going to surf the web.

My son enjoys building them and you don’t get all of that preloaded shite. But he’s also running games and video editing so he needs horsepower. It’s more expensive but IMHO more stable and last longer before getting all buggered up.
I’m going to have him build one for me that can run a good flight sim.

Really depends on the purpose and style you want. PC or Laptop? Gaming, casual, business, graphics, etc? Heavy or light user? Mobility need or not? upgradable or not?

Our home PC is a Lenovo all in one. Just an all in one wireless monitor/drive, wireless keyboard and mouse. Use Norton , no probs with virus control...
Works great for two 70 yr olds...

I don't think any pc's are manufactured in the US any longer. There are other brands but I stick with Lenovo. Like I said my biggest issue with Dell are the keyboards. Once a key breaks off it's pretty much done. I haven't had this issue with Lenovo. Luckily my Dell was a work pc. When I took it into the helpdesk they immediately told me to order a new laptop. You used to be able to easily change out the keyboards on laptops but this is no longer the case.

Boomers invented the PC business. I roll my own, choose parts at the component level and install any OS that I want to run. I keep a system drive separate from data drives and always backup everything.
Don't ask me anything about cell phones though.
