and 3 reasons they won’t (The State)

quote:

Texas A&M is the No. 10 team in the nation. It is 7-1 and hasn’t lost an SEC game. It is coming off a decisive victory against a ranked LSU squad. And, somehow, the Vegas bookmakers have the Aggies as just a 2.5-point favorite over an unranked South Carolina team with three SEC losses. It feels off, almost as if Vegas knows something the rest of the world doesn’t.

Or, perhaps, it’s because Saturday’s conditions are ripe for an upset.

1. South Carolina would have beaten LSU without the officials intervening to save the Tigers. (Not one, but two really bad calls, either or which, if gotten right, would have meant a South Carolina win.)

2. Should have beaten Alabama, too.

3. We're playing in Columbia, at night.

4. A&M is coming off an emotional game.

5. A&M only beat LSU because LSU was surprised by a QB change; South Carolina will be prepared for that.

I think it's pretty much a given that South Carolina wins this.

Congrats, Cocks.

2. South Carolina is coming off a bye week.
3. There’s some trap game potential.

Those are all intangibles.

I’ll take the tangibles and the Ags — A&M by 10. But I think it’ll be a dogfight.

The Sagarin ratings are usually the answer when it comes to strange betting lines.. This doesn't mean that the Sagarin Ratings are right, but if someone is gambling, they will look at ratings like this to determine "good bets"..

Texas A&M 86.19
S Carolina 81.07

Difference 5.12
SC HFA (3.18)

Line = A&M 2 point favorite (line is A&M -2.5)

I removed the link because it says it isn't secure for some reason.

The goal of a betting line is to get equal wagers on both sides.. when this happens, the house wins the juice without risk.

Nice of the writer to keep things balanced, but there’s about 25 reasons SC wins and a couple why A&M might escape with a win
