Props to Justice Haynes

I really thought he was hurt this year because prior to tonight he just hadn’t run like he was angry like he did last year. Dude ran HARD today. So good to see. Hopefully he’ll do that every game the rest of the way. We need him.

Haynes getting his mojo back would be huge down the stretch. Guy looked like an angry runner today and earlier in the year he seemed to have a different gear. The previous few weeks, he seemed timid when earlier in the year he was looking like a decisive runner.
It was bizarre to see him just turn into a pumpkin overnight. Maybe he was dealing with something or maybe he just got his mind right.

Been dealing with an offense that makes the RBs split 6 carries a game.

All of the Alabama running backs are very talented. Jam Miller and Richard Young are extremely talented in addition to Haynes. Today was very refreshing to see. Hopefully they can use the bye week to iron out any issues and injuries that they may be dealing with. You can see the talent on the roster.

Tend to agree that some of Jam and Justice's problems are use. The QB makes poor reads at times on the zone read option. Accordingly the backs are sometimes getting the handoff when they're running into wall with the ends pinching down on them or coming out of the mesh empty handed when they have green grass in front of them.
It isn't all of it. I've seen some bad reads in the backfield from these backs too. Also, the interior offensive line has not lived up to the preseason reputation. The push on drive block situations is not great. A lot of the interior runs are dead articles from the outset because the interior OL got stalled at or moved behind the LOS.
Alabama comes by being a bad rush offense honestly. The offensive unit does a lot of things individually that sums up to bad rushing offense.

The O line is very inconsistent. Frankly, Proctor is fat and out of shape and gets beat WAY, WAY too often. There's nothing you can do about that now. Pritchett is probably the most underachieving one out there. Another one that gets beat WAY too often.
I seem to recall Roberts has been hurt a lot and hence Vandermark is out there. Yes, Vandermark is experienced but he's pretty average at best. Brailsford is technically sound but he's out weighed by 30-50 lbs every game.
The WRs are way too inconsistent in blocking. That's on the coaching staff to correct that.
So it's not terribly surprising that we've struggled running the ball consistently. The good thing is that it can be corrected/improved.

The bye week comes at a critical time. We have to get better. The talent is there.

He still needs more than 7-8 carries a game

The offensive line has to be more consistent. That’s part of the problem. Also, if teams are going to crowd the box then Milroe needs to make them pay for it.

There is so much wrong with our offense that I'm not sure it is going to get sufficiently corrected this year. The passing attack has just about as much wrong with it as the rushing attack.

Evidenced by a three play series in the 2nd quarter. Milroe made the wrong read to keep or give the ball on each play. They weren’t hard reads either, just consistent poor decision making.

Need to see more than one great run. Didn't realize he is just a sophomore which may explain some of his tentativeness.

Overall Milroe played a very good game.
But he remains one of the worst read option QBs I’ve ever seen. Whatever read he makes is almost invariably the wrong one. I mean just statistically he should be 50-50 but somehow it’s worse than that.

Yep. He’s so indecisive and it’s been that way for two years. Very frustrating as a fan. We can only hope that it will improve during the bye week. Being realistic, that isn’t likely to happen.

Jam had 11 carries, Haynes had 8. That’s been about the average for both of them in most games. I agree with the posters that point out Milroe isn’t reading on RPO’s, he’s predetermining who is getting the ball when he gets in formation and usually it’s wrong.
But at the same time, our OC has the maddening habit of mixing run and pass ok until ONE run gets stuffed. Then he throws out the running plays for at least a couple of series. Dude, every play is not going to work every time. That’s no reason to completely abandon the run game. Most backs need more than 10 touches to really make a difference and get in a groove. Sheridan needs to commit to the run with more conviction.

You have to give that DB from Mizzou some credit because he came up and gave it his all only to have 22 get lower and run over him. That was one hell of an effort from both players.
