Adding 1965 to Arkansas' national championship years - that's 5 legit Natties for the Hogs

In 1964, Alabama claimed to be national champions because they were undefeated in the regular season, despite losing in their bowl game.
So in 1965, Arkansas was undefeated in regular season
So that's another natty for the Hogs
So it's 1909, 1964, 1965, 1977, and another one I forgot about, it's been hard to keep track

In 1964 teams were awarded the national championship almost a full month before the bowl games were played. Alabama went into their bowl game as the national champions.
How people think it worked: Alabama played all the regular season games, then the bowl games and the AP/Coaches polls came out in Janurary after the bowl games and still gave Alabama the national championship.
How it really worked: The final AP/Coaches polls came out in early December and the National Champion was awarded at that time. 3-4 weeks later they would then go to play in an by invitation only exhibition game.
It's kind of dumb to count an exhibition game based on the premise of not understanding history of the game. And yet for some reason it's all anyone ever does.
If it was a retroactive claim, then you would have a great point. But that's just not the case.

Most of us claim one, 1939
I would say 1917 and 1919 should count, both undefeated, untied, not scored upon. But don’t claim them

A&M claims 3, but only 2 are legit.
Although I generally like to say they claim 4, and that 1927 and 20XX Jimbo titles are bogus because it's funny.

No they really did claim that they won the Big 12 in 1997 and 2010.
