Alabama and Tennessee fans

Serious question, what makes the TSIO so special? The rivalry is tilted in Alabama’s favor and is filled really with so many long steaks of one team dominating. It really isn’t back and forth. Is it more for the older fans? Do younger fans really care? Does it compare to the Iron Bowl? It seems like that game, at least for Alabama fans, has more juice. I’m not sure if UT has any other rival (Kentucky, Florida or Vanderbilt) that would come close. Does the game mean more to UT fans than Alabama fans?

Of course it means more to us. It’s our Super Bowl but bigger. Beating Alabama is how Tennessee coaches become folk heroes. I don’t care how Alabama feels about it, it’s the biggest day of the year for every good Tennessean

To fans who paid attention before Saban, this was a very close rivalry. We've played Alabama more times than Auburn, >100 games. We've won more games against them than any team has, now 40 games. They've won 60 games. As of 1970, halfway way through the history, the series was a dead tie. There were quite a few runs, but Tennessee got their share until Saban. So for fans above a certain age, this is THE rivalry. I can't speak for younger fans, but I imagine they're getting the feel since we've now won 2 of 3.

In the past 60 years Tennessee wins like 30% of the games. Your only times of real success were during the Doughnut Devil years while Alabama was in it's worse stretch. Outside that, you're a shitty team with history pre-1960 and some of the lamest NC claims in college football.
You didn't win yesterday because you are a good team. As usual Tennessee only wins when Alabama is having a bad year.

HATRED and CONTEMPT
We don't just want to beat them. We don't want them to win one more game in anything.
We want to demoralizing and destroy them and send them to the dark ages again.

Family. I have family on both sides of this and it’s a fun rivalry that we both take seriously but is a fun time to be around family.

True Tennessee fans and true Bama fans consider it their biggest rivalry. Smoke the cigars boys! You earned it!

Also, I don’t really consider Florida a rival.
We’ve only played regularly since the divisions. Yeah, they were big games then, but no history like Alabama.
Felt like Auburn was more of a rival before ‘92.

Spurrier made them a rival and a game that determines the rest of our season most years.

Bryant beat Tennessee 10 years in a row.

Alabama vs Tennessee over my lifetime:

I’m over sixty and yes the Tennessee game is special. Alabama and Tennessee built this conference in my lifetime. So congratulations to the Big Orange nation. They got it done yesterday and we didn’t.

What a soft bitch you are.
So your wins vs us when we had shitty coaches and long down periods count, but our wins vs you when you had shitty coaches and down periods don't?
FOH

Tennessee vs Alabama over my lifetime. Point to the me the games in which what I said is not true. The 4 wins together are the final year of Bear and 3 years of Perkins. The other stretch are those of Fulmer.

Sorry your win yesterday didn't change history.

You are such a sore loser
you are literally acting like a 12 year old

Easy answer: Prior to the 21st century, Alabama and Tennessee were by far the top two traditional programs in the SEC. If any team besides Alabama had an argument to be a blue blood, it was Tennessee. That and we share a pretty large border. Think of it like the Saban era Alabama/LSU rivalry except closer proximity and 7 decades of it.
