7. Sam Pittman - Arkansas

Arkansas fans seem happier than they've been in years. Although I have no doubt they'd throw Pittman out the door to make Petrino HC.

11. Hugh Freeze - Auburn

Auburn on a 2 year coaching rotation now? I wouldn't blame them, but they are counting future wins because of recruiting, because apparently they think the recruiting is due to Freeze rather than NIL.

12. Mike Norvell - Florida State

Probably wishing he was offered the Alabama job right now.

These two, plus Mel Tucker (already fired by MSU), were the guys many "experts" were saying LSU should hire.

I still think Napier would have done as good a job as BK at LSU.

I think Napier would have more success than he has had at Florida, but don't think he would have been as strong as Kelly has been.

Kelly also has a top 3 recruiting class coming in, don't know if Napier could have matched that.

For starters, the bar isn't as high as you want to pretend it is. BK has 7 losses in his previous 2 seasons.

Beyond that, it's because I think LSU is a better program than Florida right now, with better support, better recruiting and a fan base that while delusional at times, supports the shite out of their coach. He also already has some relationships in state if he's at LSU.

Just don't think he would be doing as bad if he was at LSU.

I know this is the rant, but Freeze has the most job security of anyone in the SEC. He has the 4th ranked recruiting class, and the big donors love him. Any list with him on it show that person has no clue what they are talking about.

He’d already been entrenched in Louisiana recruiting so that’d have helped.

Recruiting lower level guys in Louisiana and the top dogs are 2 different things. I was very against Napier when his name came up. You don't hire a guy from UL that doesn't have any other head coaching experience to LSU. You have to bring in a proven major college football coach.

Winning the SEC West in year 1, having a Heisman QB in year 2, all while having very good recruiting classes is a better start than Napier could have dreamed. LSU 2025 class is setting up to be special and 2026 is loaded for in state talent. We can pretend like Brian Kelly doesn't have LSU trending in the right direction but it's just false hope. LSU was at rock bottom. We came off of a NC and went 11-12 over the next 2 years and 8-10 in the SEC. Coach O neglected his job and left us with major roster issues. Kelly has cleaned up most of the mess rather quickly and finally has the right defensive staff.

Expectations at Vandy are too high if this is the case.

I feel bad for Sonny and Norvell. I think Kirby murdered them in more ways than one.
