Yes they did. How much more disrespectful is that than the horns down thing that gets them so upset? Jackie was the shite

Yeah Jackie is badass.
The only thing more disrespectful is branding the steer 13 - 0

Remember when he single handedly raised the price of FedEx stock? I really don't, but I've heard plenty about it over the years.

Regretted leaving PITT for a lesser program, aggy.
“There’s a lot of mistakes I’ve made in my life. Leaving Pitt was one of them,” Sherrill told me Wednesday.
Sherrill made the comments while discussing his induction to the University of Pittsburgh Athletics Hall of Fame. That news was released Tuesday.
After a 7-5 aggy season in 1988 and a two-year probation levied by the NCAA, for cheating, Sherrill resigned.
If (Sherrill and his family) had stayed, I have no doubt, with the team we had, we would’ve won it all in ‘82. Certainly, with Danny being the leader that he was,” Sherrill said.
Maybe. Marino’s senior season wasn’t as good as his previous years with the Panthers. Perhaps that would’ve been different if Sherrill stayed.

Saw that interview. Sherrill was just playing to the home crowd IMO but calling A&M a lesser program to Pitt at the time is not an insult. They won the natty in 1977 under Johnny Majors and Sherrill finished in the Top 10 4 out of the five years he was there including a #2 finish in 1980.
It was well known at the that he was feuding with his permanent in-state overlord Joe Paterno, a battle he would never win, and felt that the Pitt Athletic Department was nickel and diming him. Despite his success, Paterno and Penn State would always roll into town and crush them. His single loss in 1981 was a 48-14 beatdown by Penn State at Pitt Stadium.
He was making $175k a year at Pitt and was offered a scandalous 5 year $1.6 Million deal at A&M. Amazing that the sports media was revolted that he was making $320K a year. That is a months pay for top tier coaches these days.
He is from Oklahoma and played for the Bear at Alabama and basically never went north of the Mason Dixon Line after leaving Pitt so he seemed fine with moving on.
That 1982 squad could have been something though.

For programs like Arkansas, Texas A&M and Miss State, a proven cheater orchestarting an act with the genitals of an animal is all you have when winning the SEC is impossible for you.
By the way, you are all going to hate the rest of this football season. If you wondering if we are all laughing at you.....we are.

I remember us emasculating Jackie at the Cotton Bowl the one year they managed to make the SEC Championship Game and got to close out the game with "POOOOOOOR JACKIE!" chants

Jackie was still 2-1 vs Texas while at State. As the great poet Meatloaf stated," Now, don't be sad, because 2 out of 3 ain't bad".

I attended this game. I remember Ricky Williams doing the Heisman after scoring TDs. That is when Mack seemed to actually have something cooking.
It also shows you how down the SEC West was at the time. MSU wins the division with three losses. LSU, Auburn, and Bama were all terrible.

They finished tied at 6-2 (LSU & Kentucky) with Arkansas but held the head to head tiebreaker. Their 3rd loss was Oklahoma State
