Hugh knows you can’t turn chicken sh!t into chicken salad … he is 75% focused on recruiting and has no expectations out of this season due to the tremendous talent void. Am I happy we suck? No… is it a multi year rebuild ? Yes… so let’s collectively simmer down on the idiot hot seat takes and realistically look at the heap of crap Hugh took on

I don't think he would willfully sacrifice a season until things get better. Dud has GOT to win the games that he is supposed to. Losing to Arkansas 12-14 years ago is one thing but now is like losing to New Mexico State or Miss State or Alabama State for the bling and handicapped.

I think that Vanderbilt has an even greater talent gap but at least right now appears to be much better coached.

VU has a competent QB, we do not yet

We've got top 15 to 20 talent. If Hugh was getting the most out of his team, we could be there with Tenn/Ole Miss/Mizzou easily in terms of play on the field. Cal's roster is not much better than Vandy's talent wise.
Just cause we don't have top 2 talent, doesn't mean we cant win games.
The worst part is that hes not getting anything from the position he is known for being able to develop and get the most from, QB.

That’s a laughable statement… Hardin and Malzhan set this program back a decade recruiting wise… there is no talent left with exception to the freshman class and this past transfer class

which positions on our 2024 roster are less talented than our 2023 roster? if its that obvious you should be able to point them out

Freeze himself already pointed out we are struggling to replace the secondary and Marcus Harris.

we should be playing better, but to say we have top 15-20 talent is absurd.

It’s apparent that some on this board aren’t capable of seeing the issue for what it is

He must have been really good if he helped Vandy's defense slow down a #7 ranked team.

He kicked our arse with NM St. last year. I mean embarrassed us arse kicking.

When there is a talent gap, teams usually are competitive early in a game but the more talented team pulls away late.
We have not been competitive. In our losses, our defense has failed to stop or even slow down the other team for big, ruinous stretches of the game and the offense has never gotten off bottom dead center.
Vandy looks better than us. Everyone in the SEC with the possible exception of Mississippi State looks better than us at this point. The ball security issues are indicative of bad coaching. Bad mechanics are corrected in practice by capable coaches. This is why you see the majority of tipped ball interceptions coming off the hands of younger receivers. They learn in practice not to do that when they are properly coached.
We are back to Embrace the Suck.

As we continued to reel in recruits in the summer you could see twitiots use recruiting successes of players that wont be starring for Auburn for years bolster confidence into this season which makes no sense, especially in hindsight. Auburn fans are desperate to arrive and be done with this bloodletting process that they keep getting ahead of themselves. It is disappointing that our rebuilding year does not include wins against Cal and Arky, but we are rebuilding so we need to lick our wounds and move on. 8-4 and rebuilding would for sure be more tolerable but Freeze has other plans.

I get that we aren't at a level to compete with UGA. But there's no reason we shouldn't be beating teams...at HOME...that we are more talented than this year.

And in three more years, the apologists will be saying the same thing and the stands will be 30-40 percent empty.

This wasn't true against arkansas. They exploited a blown coverage and had 1 drive late in the 4th. Defense looked better and even good at times Saturday. Better qb contain from the line and some maturity in the secondary and the defense should be able to keep any game close.

If we are going through a rebuild doesn't it still go back on our head coach to use the portal to fix the holes in the team? Are we just supposed to suck at everything for 2-3 years until those young guys are ready? I believe people are making excuses for a lack of coaching. Supposedly the talent on roster is much better than last year, that includes the portal guys. Aside from about 3 players none of the young (freshman) are getting much playing time anyway. Our team is lacking in fundamentals. Bad reads, fumbling, stupid penalties....all of which stem from being unprepared

Didn’t this excuse get trotted out last year? If this ridiculous premise is even remotely true, it proves a lot of people right about what kind of coach he is.
He’s not on a hot seat. But I am not going to defend the guy and make excuses for him. Most on this board just want Auburn to succeed so badly that they will continue to make excuse for a horrible coach.
And backup QBs too. Auburn folks for the most part will go in hard on everyone but the coach and the backup QB. Until it’s obvious to anyone.
