Cut that shite out about dropping MSU from the SEC. If you don't think we would be in the group of those cut, you're sorely mistaken. We are one Matt Luke type coach away from being exactly where they are now. We should all be on the side of "every charter member gets to stay in no matter what."

Don't let the rivalry delude you into stepping on your own dick.

Meh. We are in a much better spot than them. Our brand is much more nationally recognized that theirs and we have some decent political pull within the College Football world since we have the Mannings backing us. We aren’t the level of Bama or Ohio State obviously but our boosters, leadership and brand are what would keep us in the SEC.

Mississippi State doesn’t have any of that. It’s basically Dak and nothing else.

It's not the rivalry. It's the idea that we are the smallest and poorest state in the union. And we have two SEC teams. States that are 10x bigger than us (FL, GA) only have one. So it stands to reason that if they are looking to cut some fat, one Mississippi school would get cut and one would survive.

So it's important to beat their arse in every possible way we can. Money, athletics, attendance, culture, etc.

The biggest advantage OM has over State is Oxford. Even State graduates are flocking to Grenada Without the Lake to retire. It's the best place NoMiss has to offer. So expanding on that sentiment is what will set us apart.

Don't kid yourself. None of this matters. If they start dropping teams, we will be in the first group out, simply due to the size of our market. This would be the order of who they drop:

1. Vandy
2. MSU
3. Missouri
4. Ole Miss

It does but ok

If it doesn’t matter then why aren’t Arkansas and South Carolina out?

Because both of them are in bigger markets than we are.

I don't disagree with the spirit of your post, I just don't think we are there yet. What we need is a period of sustained, high level success. We need to do really well this year.

I mean, we still have a lot of people thinking that we aren't contenders this year just because of the name on the front of the jersey.

Also take into account that Bama, UGA, and LSU would love to have an open recruiting territory in MS with no SEC schools to interfere with them.

I agree-if you can't say anything nice about State in this regard, just don't say anything at all. (Not that message board banter means shite )

My gawd they are so far behind. It's almost comical. But they are only a couple good to great seasons away from some alums opening the checkbooks for NIL. Maybe.

quote:

“For over a thousand years Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of triumph, a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeters, musicians and strange animals from conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children robed in white stood with him in the chariot or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting.” – General George S. Patton, Jr.

I would say the cut list is:

1) Mizzou
2) State
3) Arkansas
4) Scar
5) Ole Miss
6) Vandy (because of private school benefits)

For B1G it is:
1) Indiana
2) Purdue
3) Minnesota
4) Illinois
5) Michigan State
6) Nwestern

There is definitely a scenario where these 12 get dropped and the SEC and B1G form a super league.

Our best shot is to show staying power in terms of organization as well as results on the field. If the super league is 32 teams instead of 20 we have a shot but definitely not a shoo in.

What? Their AD pulls in $172 million annually. That's more than Arkansas, Iowa, Florida State, Oregon, and Washington.

I was struggling to come up with the last team on my B1G list. They don’t have a football pedigree or media market so I had them in over Washington. But I could see Washington getting the shaft instead.
