I expect 3-4 losses this season. That's not a BAD season, but it's not greatness either. Even so, I intend to enjoy the matchups, the new conference, and hope for the best.

Joining the SEC is not necessarily the reason for less than exuberant projection. Losing an RB doesn't help, but that's not the reason either.

Sarkisian is not our finisher. He has helped us turn a corner, he has righted a few wrongs, he has had some good wins, and we have trended nicely since his arrival. But this is where it will stop. Sark does not take us over the hump, ie. DKR or Mack.

Texas is in a good position, joining the SEC is well worth its calling card for recruiting, and Texas brand and resources can do the rest. But we will now fall into that close, but no cigar zone. How long we stay there will be interesting, as I don't expect CDC to let us flounder in 3-4 loss territory as long as some schools might.

Could we beat Georgia? Sure - it might happen, but we won't miss our chance to bank a few losses either. I repeat, Sark is not the finisher.

Ok, on with the season.

The reality is that there are very few Finisher coaches in CFB.

Good post btw.

An honest post — such a rarity on this site.

No hidden troll or cheap shots directed at other teams — another rare occurrence.

This post is a gem in an otherwise crap-infested house of ill repute.

Not a troll. I hope his divorce doesn't drive him back to the bottle. Anyone who's been through the process can attest to how much it sucks and takes a toll on you. He has more than enough stress as is. Even if he doesn't resort to drinking, it could affect his job performance in the short term.

Tx has a habit of a revolving door at HC. You kicked out Mack. Your boosters have no patience. You have to get into top 10-15 and then hope for that great year.

But every time you change coaches its a reset. And it means you start over recruiting too. And then when the next coach gets good the boosters get antsy and fire him if he doesn’t win enough in year3/4. And the cycle continues. .

You have good coaching, great talent and as easy a schedule in the SEC as you could wish. 2-3 losses max.

Likely 1-2 and the playoffs

I hope you’re wrong about Sark, but as another poster said, there aren’t many elite coaches. Nevertheless I’ll enjoy this season and I’m looking forward to how we compete, in all sports, in the SEC.

Fair enough - but as another poster has commented, guys like Bob Stoops don't come around with the next sunrise.

You hit jackpot, you had a great run with Stoops and hung onto him for a good long time.

But I'm not sure OU should poke at Texas on this issue, as you guys had a turnstile going as well before Stoops settled in.

We have won two national titles with two of the dumbest coaches in cfb history. Surely the great Texas can win one with sark

We had 3 coaches between Switzer and Stoops.

Thing is, Stoops left on his own. Whereas Tx fired Mack. And the OP is talking about Sark not being the guy. You never know and if you fire him you start over.

He hasn't stuck around long enough anywhere to finish as HC, (Washington was a disaster, he improved the team greatly..enough to draw attention from USC) why do you think he can't do it?

Look how long it took Harbaugh to get it done at Michigan. You may be right about our record this year, (I think 2 losses, 3 absolute max) but we really need to stop being impatient and let a coach cook for a while. He's trended up every season as Longhorns coach, (Herman left him a roster depleted in key areas and tanked recruiting) so why would we think he'd suddenly start trending down?
