If they were going to do this, I'd vote for a relegation type system.
Maybe 32 teams in the top level and the rest in the second tier.
The second tier could be comprised of conferences with each conference champion being automatically upgraded the next year.
Interest would remain high for second tier schools as they compete to make it to the top tier.
This would require a lot more central control of conference assignments and scheduling.

quote:Yes, he is. Doesn’t mean he’s way off on this one. It’s already pro football but with no rules. A super league allows the schools who want to admit that to create a collective system & those who can’t afford a roster or who want to remain amateur sports to do so.

I'm not opposed to that for football
A lot more avenues to explore for other sports that don't necessarily have to be a super league for basketball, baseball, etc. Those sports could be more regional in order to help them survive and thrive
It's the conference models that are old and antiquated and are just being propped up by mega tv deals

I hope it happens.
Alabama will go, and I will find a new team to pull for and never watch a single fricking minute of the 32 team league.
It will suck in comparison to the past, but it will beat the shite out of this corporate bullshite they are pushing these days. Take the money and run....PLEASE.
frick em all.

Yeah Swaim is a dipshat, but the writing for this has been on the wall since nil. College has needed a new div for a while anyone thinking bama osu uga and western ky or southern miss are playing on an even field is delusional. I think it’ll be bigger than 32 I think it’ll hit 48. It’ll be set up like nfl commissioner and salary caps will be introduced. They’ll have a governing body with teeth and alumni will have to invest in the school/facilities again instead of the athlete

The B1G and SEC are 32 teams right now.
But if you're going to build from scratch.. then the SEC Teams that make the cut would be:
Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
LSU
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Tennessee
Georgia
Arkansas.. maybe? Ole Miss.. maybe?

The day the Saudis invest in college football is the day they can shut the whole thing down.
I don’t watch LIV golf and I sure as shite won’t watch the further decay of college football so they can continue counting dollars.

Just create a minor league football league and take the name off the teams and come up with new names. Anything school related/education wise is a complete joke - just call it what it is - professional sports. Get the schools out of it. Maybe the schools can get back to the purpose of schools - educating people.

Here's the easy "in" top 20 sorted alphabetically.
1 Alabama
2 Auburn
3 Clemson
4 Florida
5 Florida State
6 Georgia
7 LSU

12 Ohio State
13 Oklahoma
14 Oregon
15 Penn State
16 Tennessee

Kinda expect them to stop there and add 5, 10, or 12 later. Would be easier than kicking someone out. Anyway, if it really is 32, here's my guess at 12 more.
