Seems like I remember somebody saying that would be a pipe dream....but that was before the Cal hire.

Can we throw enough at him to get him to make the jump? Will we have a big enough turn around that we're not even in the market for a coach? Would he be interested in Arky at all?

Who else can we throw enough money at to get here that would be a decent hire? Matt Campbell?

Having a winning record at Iowa state is pretty insane. He’s also pretty good at finding diamonds in the rough. Found Brock purdy and breeze hall and got both to come to Iowa state.

The guy that already makes 7 mil and has unlimited NIL funds coming from a single source?

Yeah, he's coming.

Against Big 12 competition

We have little to no nil funds and he'd get destroyed in the SEC

He lost to both Kansas teams, Texass, Blow U. Also lost to Ohio and Memphis last season.

If they're gonna throw money at a new coach, why go after one that won't avg 7 wins in the SEC.

7-6 in the Big 12 isn't impressive.

That’s a single 9 win season in 25 years. Only a handful of seasons above .500 and Campbell has made a bowl game every year but 2 at Iowa state. Not saying we need to hire him but you can’t deny Campbell is a good coach. He’s also the guy who was coach at Toledo when they beat our arse under bert.

Whatever. I’m not the guy who said he wanted Campbell I’m just saying we could and have done a lot worse. Campbell would be far better than any of the last 4 coaches we’ve had and you can ask anyone who actually knows college football and they would agree.

Phil Knight is 86 and could kick the bucket any day

If our financial powers combined made Lanning or any other pipe dream a priority… insanely high money has been known to make insane things happen.

Would we rather have him or Dabo next? That's the real question.

IIRC Campbell's name popped up before the BOT hired Chaggie. Not sure if he turned us down or what happened.
Rev or Dale might be able to shed some light on that situation.

FWIW, Cucksberry's name has already been batted around.

I think Arkansas contacted his agent before hiring Pittman and he quickly turned it down.

Why stop there? Call up a necromancer and have him reanimate vince Lombardi for us. He will do it for a few brains a year.
