Oregon has talent and is accumulating top players through recruiting and the portal. Penn State has done nothing, and isn't accumulating talent on that level. With Michigan dropping, I think the media is just propping up the B1G at the top. Frankly, Franklin has done nothing on the national level.

FPI is stupid

Example:

6. Penn State - 19.8

I would swap Oklahoma with Ole Miss and Tennessee with Missouri and I think this would look right as far as the SEC hierarchy in the pre-season.

Some of the other rankings are laughable outside the SEC

Vols would name the score against you this year like the two previous years before Milton suited up at QB sonstop capping.

Tennessee too low, Missouri and LSU too high.

And yet Vols aren't top 25 in any EA Sports rankings

This

The Sooners have a gauntlet awaiting them this season. They could play an outstanding brand of football start to finish and end the season 9-4.

Bowl games are generally meaningless for a lot of teams and transfers are a crap shoot at best; many do not pan out.

We have successfully run such a gauntlet before.

Have you?

FPI is a bullshite metric because ESPN adds in their own human based ratings and passes it off as being an unbiased stat generated metric.

Fair enough, but I think Mizzou has been top 10 sometime in a season in 5 of the last 20.
