Went through Andrew, Katrina, and Rita in Louisiana, hope you all do not have much damage and can get your power back quickly!
Very good idea to go fill up your gas tank.

Hopefully you all started spending some of that money on infrastructure for moments like this.
I still remember when it got down to 20 degrees in Texas a couple years ago and the whole state fell apart because people embezzled so much money from all the utilities.

What?? It got too cold for the wind and solar grid and a nuclear plant had a key electrical component fail at the worst possible moment and trigger a safety protocol shut down

Tell me you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about without saying it.
The grid failed bc Texas had to waste critical time asking approval from fedgov/EPA to use our own … *gasp* … natural gas. Apparently government forced/subsidized wind and solar sources aren’t always effective during record shattering temperatures.

The problem with the Texas freeze was due to Biden federal natural gas regulations and forced compliance on wind and solar.
We have infrastructure that works just fine for decades. Biden made us change it according to his plan and his plan doesn’t work when the whole state freezes.
In short, as with most things, it was working fine until the government improved it.

Dude, I was working outside in the middle of the freeze jumping through my arse to keep things running.
The main problem is over reliance on wind turbines which froze up and stopped making electricity.
These people thinking we are ever gonna run the USA on wind turbines and solar need to put the crack pipe down and drink some black coffee to sober up.

I don’t believe that, your people aren’t that damn stupid, it’s your power grid and if the few wind turbines were running most of your system then that was on you.
What I remember is the natural gas pipelines were freezing up at the source because they weren’t very well insulated for those conditions and other sources failed. No one relies totally on wind turbines, if they do they’re ignorant.

I moved to Illinois 20 years ago. I’ll take blizzards and ice storms over Hurricanes any day.

I’ve lived on the Gulf Coast my whole life. I don’t pretend to be an expert on tornadoes, but you could sit on your back porch and drink cocktails while watching this one blow through.

Not up here. They can destroy a whole section of town. Even in The south they can destroy towns at will. MS, TN and AL get hit hard early spring/late winter.
