Schloss - The Deal & The Interview

So based on all that I have read so far, here is my opinion on the timeline of events that ended in a deal between Texas & Schloss, and then my interpretation of the interview he gave after the loss in Game 3.
March/April/May 2024
1) Texas loses to A&M Corpus Christi.
2) Texas gets annihilated by UTRGV.
Texas decides it is time for a new coach and CDC begins the search.
3) A&M AD Trev Alberts fires 2 guys in baseball operations without any discussion with Schloss. In addition, he is pinching pennies across the athletic department and Schloss is not seeing any progress on the facilities that he was promised when taking the job.
Schloss is unhappy with Alberts and agrees to a deal to come to Texas via his Agent/CDC.
Somewhere during the postseason, people at A&M find out that Schloss is leaving. For one, Billy Liucci (TexAgs) said he heard about it weeks ago and that he told the people that needed to know.. which means that Zane (who works with Liucci) knew exactly what was happening when he asked the loaded question..
So look at it from that perspective. Schloss is leaving.. A&M knows he is leaving.. Zane knows he is leaving.. then Zane says this..
My Interpretation:
You already know I'm leaving a-hole.. You sat on this story for days/weeks hoping we would win a NC without a distraction, so frick you for asking now when you already know the answer.
My Interpretation:
I came here to coach until I retire. It was true then, and it is true now. That is 100% why I came to Texas A&M.
My Interpretation:
You already know I'm leaving a-hole, so why would you ask me that question when you already know the answer?
My Interpretation:
You already know I'm leaving a-hole.. I came here to coach and then retire, and I gave this job everything while I was here, but as you already know, things changed. Write that you slimy piece of shite.
Just my opinion. The interview makes more sense when I look at it this way. It was a loaded question and big frick you to Schloss.. so yes, he was pissed.

Your new coach didn’t have the composure in the moment to simply brush it off with a no comment, or a “this loss hurts right now, let’s focus on that” type of answer. A little concerning perhaps.

Yeah Schloss is totally the good guy here and that big mean reporter made him look bad.

Nope. When am was playing in the cws, some Texas fan asked liucci what's gonna happen when Texas takes your coach? He said and I quote it's never gonna happen and thanks for playing or some smart arse answer. frick you looch. Eat a dick.

This is a good perspective. But it doesn't justify the timing of the announcement, nor the press leaks during the tournament. That seemed petty.

Eat a dick
Is there any other kind of Texas fan other than punks. We haven't seen them here yet.

If there is 1 thing A&M has in spades its a willingness to go all in on a coach that they think will bring them a championship. If what you're saying about these baseball operation guys is true then i suppose its possible he got butthurt by it and made a deal to become his school's biggest rival coach. But riddle me this, if all these people have known for months, how would it possibly have been not leaked and secondly why would the sitting coach play along with this charade until the day of the national championship? Shouldnt he be out looking for another opportunity if he's known he was fired for months? If i was told i was fired i sure as shite wouldnt sit around and waste my time pretending to be a coach so there could be a good zinger to my former employers rival.

If he had said that, A&M would have melted on Monday instead of Tuesday.. but yes, he certainly gave an emotional response.. but I believe it was emotional because he actually cared when he chose that job.. If he responded without emotion, I think that would have been worse.

The narrative that people at A&M knew is hilarious

Schloss is a coward. The reporter gave him a chance to leave with dignity and he took that opportunity to make vague statements about how committed he was to the Texas A&M job knowing full well he was already gone. Your spin doesn’t work when we read exactly what he said.

He responded with emotion because he got put on the spot in front of everyone and lacks the ability to deal with such a situation

Here’s the real issue:
If Schloss knew, and his whole staff knew…why did Texas leak their firing news the afternoon of game 3 of the championship game? What did that do other than throw Schloss under the bus by allowing this to be a distraction? Why not wait one more day?
If the answer is just to troll A&M it honestly calls into question Schloss and staffs coaching ability and focus in the championship game which is really shitty

Pierce leaked it.

IMO, if they wanted to hurt A&M, it would have been announced when Pierce was actually fired, which I believe was about 10-14 days ago.
Also, why wouldn't it have been announced before Game 1 of the Finals? Game 2 of the Finals? There wasn't even a guarantee of a Game 3.
Rumor 1: David Pierce leaked the story to Kirk Bohls in order to hurt Texas.
Rumor 2: Brett Zimmerman (Aggie beat writer) leaked it to Kirk Bohls (they work together) hoping to squash the deal. BZ was also the reporter who leaked Texas to the SEC back in 2021, hoping to squash that deal too..
Either way, I don't think Texas leaked that DP was fired. I don't see any benefit to Texas to do it that way.

Aggies—any insight into what happened here?

There is a rumor that Pierce was the leak (posted above). I don't know when Pierce found out he was going to be fired though.. but let's assume it was 10-14 days ago.. Perhaps there was a financial incentive for him to keep his mouth shut?
As for the A&M side.. they were #1 around the time that the operations guys got fired.. they had a legit chance to win the NC.. leaking it would have caused a big disruption to a NC run. Just my opinion..

Firstly, kudos to you for breaking the hire on the rant a few weeks ago. I didn't see how Texas could be negotiating with Schloss during the post season run. Evidently this was buttoned up well before the SEC tournament. Good on CDC for keeping it under wraps.
I actually don't have a problem with Schloss leaving. In retrospect had we lost the Oregon series it would have happened the next day. The leaks during the CWS were bad and him leaving the day after the CWS was bad purely from an optics standpoint but in this day of NIL, player free agency, and coaches with big contracts and big buyouts it is what it is.
A&M always had it within their power to lock him down, give him a raise that matched his coaching results, etc... after last season. None of this was done. The stadium upgreade promised just kind of hung out there without progress. I also heard someone Schloss liked within the athletic department was cut and he wasn't happy about it.
Keeping in mind the $1.5M salary, the slow progress of the stadium renovations, the budget cuts that cost someone he liked their job, etc... all happened while we have that idiiot Jimbo making 6+ times Schloss salary and we fire him with a $75M buyout. I would have got the frick out also. Taking the coaches with you is part of the repercussions when a HC leaves. Sucks but it happens.
What I have heard recently is a couple of players in the portal that wanted to come to A&M were advised by Schloss not to do anything and not to sign any NIL deals. If that is the case, then he was being paid by A&M and undermining at the same time. IF this is true... IF... then A&M ought to sue the shite out of him. That's James Franklin type of stuff.
There are a lot of good baseball coaches out there. Will we make the right hire? Maybe or maybe not.

Dude. It's okay that your coach is a narcissistic swinger who will lie to your face.
Guy can win ballgames which is all that matters. No need to defend his shitty character. Who cares.
