Why do people keep referring to 2020 as a pointless football season?

Sure. Empty stadiums filled with cardboard fans mocked the apathy surrounding the pandemic season. Opt-outs, COVID concerns, and lack of true competition made the games feel meaningless.
But 2020, football aside, will prove to be one of the most meaningful seasons of all time. History unfolded, my friends. 2020 saw a woman shatter a glass ceiling, her point-after attempt a wobbly triumph. Women can't play football with the men? Not on her watch, she declared, as the ball sailed through the uprights, like a particularly determined but slightly tipsy and mortally wounded bird.
The cardboard cutouts also proved, once and for all, that the roar of the crowd isn't essential. The focus, determination, and silent understanding between these competitive players (men and, now women, alike) became the truest fuel for an exceptional game. Nothing short of inspirational.
Pointless season? I think not. 2020 wasn’t a meaningless blip — far from it. It was a messy, unexpected, yet beautiful season that unveiled the future of college football.
Discuss.

You've become a shell of yourself, NFLSU.
So sad.

As usual the Bama fans miss the premise and assume it’s an attack on them. Saban retired. Nobody cares about you anymore.

2020 proved my long held "conspiracy" theory that broadcasts pumped in crowd noise in otherwise boring/empty game moments. So much of this world is fake bullshite. So many people really are living in a mental version of The Matrix.

Travesty is the word that comes to mind more. Because it was a travesty that the Aggies were excluded from the playoffs!

Because it was a pointless football season. Regardless of the Chinese virus, my wife and I went to all the games in Tiger Stadium. Our seats got moved and it was a disaster. We were supposed to wear masks & people were frickin’ crazy. One of the stupidest things I’ve ever been associated with.

So basically you're upset because a chick playing for Vandy had a better season than LSU?

At what point did I present myself as being upset, other than the fact that everyone seems to look at 2020 like an illegitimate season? Maybe it was illegitimate football wise, but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t extremely important. 2020 will go down as one of the most significant turning points in college football.
It’s a shame more people don’t realize that.

No, the Matrix version of the Matrix was humans living unconscious in pods with mental programming. In my version, we aren't living in pods.
