He gone!!
Another Little JJ Recruit not working out. 2 high rated guys out of high school and both go to BR and don’t get developed both hit the portal last two days. Doesn’t matter how talented you are out of high school if JJ can’t develop the talent.

Never reached his potential or even close to it, and was behind Brown, Larson, and Pearson to start next season.

Samuel Dutton in the portal also. Guys Johnson recruited are not panning out in the SEC, go figure!

Shut up troll! JJ can and has developed talent everywhere he’s been. He developed plenty of talent that won us a Natty last season.

Show me a program with 100% retention at this point

Oh man what a revelation!!! This must be uniquely an LSU and coach JJ issue, there's no way any other player on any other team ever didn't pan out.

Wrong!! Skenes was developed at Air Force, Tommy Tanks was developed at N.C State and most of the impact guys on last years roster were PM recruits that where already developed. Like Crews and Morgan was already elite players and MLB players before JJ took over.

Brown = Freshman
Larson = Freshman
With today's transfer portal, it's getting more unique for guys to come right out of high school and break into the starting lineup.
All the best to Paxton but his ABs, especially in SEC and post-season play, were tough to watch this season.

Wrong. Skenes fb improved dramatically and he added another pitch while at LSU.

Kling couldn’t hit the ball off a tee and got benched for a Freshman. He saw the handwriting on the wall. You obviously can’t see either.
Dutton had north of a 6 era in 3 seasons. Kid is mid at best and probably couldn’t start at Troy.

No school has 100% retention, I know this. Hell I expect some players from Tennessee to bounce. Zane Denton is headed to Austin Peay, but he didn’t play at all this year so no big deal.
Thing is about Kling he was the highest rated prospect to ever sign with LSU when he signed. Schools are going to lose players every year, but to lose top rated guys after a year or 2 could be concerning. Some of these players were expected to be stars for LSU and little JJ wasted their talents.
LSU is up to 9 players on the portal now;
Paxton Kling-OF- rated recruit in LSU history at the time of signing, 2 years left.
Sam Dutton-RHP-15 career starts at LSU, 1 year left
Cam Johnson- LHP- Top 50 HS prospect- drafted in HS, 2 years left.
Aiden Moffett- RHP- 2 years left, 98-99 mph fastball
Micah Bucknam- RHP- 2 years left,
Zeb Ruddell- top 5 player in Louisiana senior year HS.
Derrick Mitchell: Outfield (Freshman)
Nic Bronzini: Left-Handed Pitcher (Redshirt Freshman)
Austen Roellig: Shortstop (Freshman)

Oh I’m sorry I struck a nerve. Dutton was a freshman when JJ accepted the job. I get that PM recruited him, but he’s spent the last 3 years with JJ!

He was also passed by true freshmen which kind of defeats your whole talking point.

Kinda like losing one of your star pitchers to Wake Forrest, amirite?

Sam Dutton greatest contribution to LSU was eating inning an inning in the 24-4 game Vs Florida so we could save better pitchers for game three
he has a career Tournament ERA of 29.4.
No that decimal point isn’t in the wrong place. 12 runs in 3.2 innings.

Skenes was already an elite pitcher at Air Force. Skenes was the top pitcher in the country leaving Air Force and was 10-3 with a 2.73 era.
This was his sophomore year at Air Force:
weekend series at Dallas Baptist, where Skenes caught eight innings on Saturday and entered to close in the ninth, retiring the side at a consistent 98 mph. After catching eight innings on Saturday, he caught another eight innings on Sunday, coming in to close again and get the save.
He even did it against Johnson’s squad at Arizona, catching eight innings against the Wildcats and throwing 100 mph in the save with his future coach watching. This was the second game of a doubleheader, where, in the first game, Skenes hit a ball 115 mph off the bat.
He was throwing 98-100 mph before he even got to LSU.
