What's with the team dugout cheer/claps?

The Georgia players standing back to back clapping overhead in synch. Yesterday I saw hand motions. They all seem to enjoy it. What the hell. Girl's softball esque. Ugh.

baseball has so little action, players have to invent nonsense to keep them engaged. Football and basketball players don't have to participate is such silliness.

It's embarrassing.

The Vols do it too. Very aTm esque.

Clempson had some wierd, synchronized clap going as well.

Not to put any actual thought into this but baseball has always had some level of chatter - batta batta swing batta! Then in softball the “rally cap” concept morphed into eternal props and chants / cheers which I thought were pretty darn funny. But then they started doing it the whole game and they got banned. They should probably allow in the last inning, IMO.

Gymnastics may be a little different - the choreographed chants, cheers and arm motions are partly to generate familiar white noise for the teammate on the beam who would likely be able to hear her own heart beat otherwise - helps create rhythm and mental zone.

BUT, dudes doing goofy cheers in the dugouts is kinda… weird. Maybe not that weird if you compare with touchdown dances in football (the griddy anyone??). For me - weird.

I don’t mind. Seems like every time they do it they leave runners stranded in scoring position, then give up bombs the next inning.

I’ve seen it from Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee fans/players. Thought it was aight when I saw it the first time. When I realized that multiple schools do this makes it way less cool. I’ve been to multiple LSU baseball games and watched all of them. We don’t do this and I’m okay with that lol.

I honestly think the run to CF after a win and everyone jump in the air is lamer than the dugout choreography.

Sure it probably is excessive at times but I think it’s cool seeing them actually engaged. Not any worse than 3rd string DTs and strength and conditioning coaches trying to get fans pumped up in tiger stadium. That is actually lame

Because one player or coach stepped in. 'Yeah let's not join in on that. Kinda chick friendly and gay. Sorry. Am I the only one? [raise of hands] No?'

Only time TN really does it is when Billy Amick steps up to bat. uGA has copied that apparently but at random.

There wasn’t much to be excited about the first half of the season.
