It’s fine though, I’m aware of the stuff from yesterday. Generally agree with that post you shared…just hate social media and some of the stuff spewed on there. Gonna shut it down for tonight and enjoy the rest of my Saturday.

I’ll counter your anecdotal social media post with my own anecdotal account.
I know of a liberal who was fired from his public school because he was told to leave politics out of the classroom and didn’t listen. Leadership did the right thing on that one and my guess is it happens other places too.
Not all doom and gloom everywhere.

Someone else is downvoting.
Those two morons don’t represent all teachers. They’re union presidents and I understand they have power…not denying that.
But if you get off social media and out into the real world (as you mentioned with your town’s school system), you’ll realize that they don’t represent all teachers.

I always go back and forth on this topic.
I’m a teacher and for years regretted going that route. I wanted to coach football and got my foot in the door with college, but ultimately went back to high school for the stability and being there for my family (and got life saving advice from some good people).
Now that I’m a veteran teacher, I’m thankful for the pension and healthcare. I look forward to my job on most days, and I only get frustrated with pay occasionally…mostly due to rising costs of everything else in this country (but everyone deals with it).
I still coach football, which does lead to extreme hours in-season for very little pay…but as my wife says, no one makes me do it. I still squeeze in side jobs when I can to help us afford some extra stuff, but my family is very happy with our middle class life.
Most teachers just don’t take full advantage of the flexibility in their hours or don’t quite realize how much money they’ll have on the back end if they reach full retirement.
