Just placed $500 on UT to not make the playoffs (+200)

Texas nearly tied these 3 teams:
4-8 UH (if ref spots the ball in the correct place for UH on UT's goal line instead of pushing it back 2 yards at end of game, this game likely goes to OT) even announcer were questioning how horrible that spot was for UH end of game at UT goal line. This should've been an OT game.
5-7 TCU won by 3 points
7-5 Kansas St went to OT with KSU
You can't look me in the eyes and tell me with a serious face that Georgia or Bama would nearly tie 4-8 UH, 5-7 TCU, and 7-5 Kansas St. Yes I realize UT beat Bama that season, but you still can't say with a serious face that those 3 teams would nearly tie Bama and UGA. Bama/UGA would beat all 3 by 20+. It was a luck season for UT last year. I can't see them eclipsing 8-4. For that reason I placed $500 at +200 odds to return $1,500. Easy money imo. Instead of playing a mid Big 12 team with a recruiting class rank of 45th, they are now playing a mid SEC team with a recruiting class rank of 12th.
No offense University of Tennessee, but y'all aren't known as UT outside of Tennessee. This will change now Texas is in the SEC.

Nothing like putting your money where your convictions are. I'll wait and see how the shorthorn handles their business on the defensive line. The SEC is such a LOS league.

Your logic fails because those mid SEC teams are overrated.

Have you looked at their schedule? Should be heavy favorites outside of Michigan, OU, Georgia. If they go 1-2 in those games, that’s probably good enough to qualify for one of the 12 CFP spots next season.

decent analysis.. but a few key observations
Ewers got hurt during the UH game and didn't play at the end.
Ewers didn't play against KSU.
Ewers first game back was against TCU.
Backup QB Murphy was pretty bad when he played.. and there wasn't a risk of further injury to Ewers, so they rushed him back for TCU, but he wasn't at full health..
So if you are counting on Ewers getting hurt again (fair assumption) AND you believe Arch will be closer to Murphy instead of Ewers.. then you may be right.. Ewers as a 3rd year QB with a grown arse OL should be pretty good though..
Someone mentioned above that we have a 3 game schedule, and I would adjust that to a 5 game schedule. We should win the other 7 games..
@ Michigan
vs Georgia
vs Oklahoma in Dallas
@ Arkansas
@ Texas A&M
Texas needs to go 3-2 in those 5 games if they win the other 7.
I would put those odds at about 60% that we make the playoffs..
67% would be 2-1
so I would say that you got a little bit of a premium on the bet..
for actually bringing facts to your argument..
most don't do that on here
Texas should be really good though. The biggest question mark is DT.. but the 2 monsters we had last year weren't even starters the year before.. and we play a lot of rotation on the DL.

You're wrong on this. Actually, both schools are known nationally as, "UT".
For the purposes of the Rant, Tennessee has seniority rights, not to mention that the Univ of Tennessee was founded as a university (1794) long before the Univ of Texas was founded (1883).
Univ of Tennessee is and always will be: UT
Univ of Texas is now: UTA, UTx, UTerus, UTaco Meat -- take your pick.

FALSE
On September 10, 1794, two years before Tennessee became a state and at a meeting of the legislature of the Southwest Territory at Knoxville, Blount College (named for Governor William Blount) was established with a charter.[14] The new, non-sectarian, all-male, white-only institution struggled for 13 years with a small student body and faculty, and in 1807, the school was rechartered as East Tennessee College..
In 1840, the college was elevated to East Tennessee University (ETU).
After Texas was annexed, the Seventh Texas Legislature passed O.B. 102 on February 11, 1858, allocating $100,000 in United States bonds from the Compromise of 1850 for the University of Texas. The Civil War delayed fund repayment, leaving the university with only $16,000 by 1865. Nevertheless, the Texas Constitution of 1876 reaffirmed the mandate to establish "The University of Texas" by popular vote.
East Tennessee University was renamed the University of Tennessee in 1879.
The University of Texas officially opened its doors on September 15, 1883.
So while TN opened it's doors prior to TX, the "University of Texas" was identified before the "University of Tennessee".. one might even say that they copied the idea.. either way, your statement is false

But did Tennessee call itself Tennessee University for the first 70-80 years of its existence? And print out on all of its documents and put it on their buildings, etc.? I think Tennessee always called themselves the University of Tennessee and didn’t change it many decades later

If it's easy money why did you only bet $500?

That’s pretty cool, so it did start out originally University of Texas but then you changed it for half a century to Texas University, why do you think they did that? Do you think they thought it sounded better seems pretty strange but maybe that was the thing back then
