Let's face it, NIL collectives will eventually want to manage the amount of money they are throwing around at some point.
On top of that if revenue sharing comes to fruition, schools will look to cut costs of funding their teams or not having to pay as much in scholarships.

Reducing football would be the easiest way to budget or you are gonna have to start cutting the non revenue sports.

not going to happen.
in college you need the bodies.

in the NFL, you can go pick up a player off the scrap heap if you get thin due to injuries during the season.
can't do that in college.

It's already being talked abhout. You're no longer going to have walkons and you'll essentially just have an 85 man roster and that be all.

The PTB are hellbent on making CFB an exact replica clone of the NFL and it sucks.

I think they might actually get bigger. If the NCAA allows it, 25% of the team will be on NIL, so the schools can give out all 85 scholarships to kids that otherwise wouldn't make a team.

Just the opposite is going to happen at programs that matter and are included in the eventual super league. Going to have entire squads of 3 and 4 stars who don't dress and travel like back in the old days.

Unless you can go sign a free agent in the middle of the season when someone gets hurts, this won't happen. The NFL has a practice squad and a free agent pool to make sure their total numbers of players never changes.

The transfer portal would also have to go away to even think about shrinking roster sizes. Players would need to be locked into multi-year contracts

What would the impetus for schools to limit the rosters? Not saying it can't happen but I'd be curious to know.
