1. Alabama 1992 best defense in the last 50 years
2. Florida 1996 elite offense
3. Florida 1995
4. Alabama 1994 1 point from 13-0
5. Tennessee 1998 playing FSU with their 3rd string and barely winning drops them IMO.

While I can sort of see a reason for having a thread about the best teams SINCE 1990, I'm not sure why we'd want to start a thread about the best teams IN a decade that ended almost 25 years ago.

1993 Auburn was pretty solid, don’t think they beat ‘92 Bama or 95-96 Florida, think they beat ‘94 Bama and would fight ‘98 UT for 4th place.

Arkansas track and field and cross country, just pick any year in that decade.I counted 24 national titles indoor and outdoor and cross country.
Those were men’s titles.
John McDonnell may have been one of the best coaches this country has seen on the collegiate level.

98 Tennessee was an NFL team basically. We were loaded. The 97 and 2001 teams as well.

I think this really illustrates the stranglehold bama has had on the psort since saban arrived. You could come up with a dozen teams to make a top 5 from 2008-now but honestly there weren't THAT many elite teams in the 90s. You've pretty much hit on the main players. Of the big 6, UGA/AU/LSU wouldn't really have any teams make the cut considering they won a combind 0 sec titles that decade.
Prior to urban's arrival many UF fans would tell you '95 was their best team ever, it just gets overlooked because of how it ended. I would put '95 above '96. I was still a bit too young for '92 bama; everyone knows abotu the defense of course but htat offense sure left somethign to be desired. I may put 95 UF at #1. Also I'd be tempted to put another one of spurrier's teams ahead of '98 UT. Had a 1 point victory over a 4-loss syracuse, 1 posesion win over an 8-loss AU, needed one of the most miraculous plays in the history of SEC football to beat a 3-loss arkansas, escaped by 10 over a 5-loss team in the SECCG (lol), then of course was gifted a backup QB in teh title game. All that isn't to say UT sucked that year, I'm not saying that at all. What I am saying is that of all the SEC football teams that played in the decade of the 90s, I'm no so sure they are one of the 5 best.

Bama's 92 defense was an all-timer...it just took over games because the offense, maybe by design, was as conservative as could be...although with David Palmer and the running backs it wasn't bad...just didn't need to be Fun N Gun with that D.
Nebraska raping 95 Florida at the end keeps them out of the SEC team of the decade conversation...although they probably were better than the 96 version...like 97 UT was probably a better team than 98.
Bama's 99 SEC championship team beat Florida twice...and also inexplicably lost to LA Tech. I wonder if that was the worst loss ever by an eventual SEC champion. So DuBosian lol. That'd be a good post topic.

Not SEC yet, but we had a decent run in the 90s.
1991: 10-2
1992: 12-1
1993: 10-2
1994: 10-0-1
42-5-1 over a 4-year stretch.
