Our dline has been a menace recently and our secondary will be much improved.
You clearly don't follow CFB closely. We improved last year to #32 total defense in the nation and more importantly, our dline finished with the 8th most sacks last year.
Remind me of LSU 's numbers again please.
Oh yeah....they dropped off a cliff last year and won't be any better this season.

You make excuses for Heupel's second season because of transfers under the previous coach but trash Kelly's second season under the same circumstances.

All trolling aside, I think what he's trying to say is he wants to build up the longterm culture, multiyear players who want to be at LSU, and not rely on hitting the "free agent" portal market every season.
Look at what Kirby's doing at UGA, that team is built from within.
That said, we have some holes to fill, and if you want to compete for a title, you need to fill those holes somehow.
MAYBE what his plan is, is to commit to the high schoolers and get them to commit to LSU, to build the program; instead of getting a transfer or 2 every year to start. Maybe he's trying to turn that corner now, before it becomes precedent here.

Heupel inherited a WAY worse situation than BK did
and in 2022 he still produced a very aggressive physical dline. That was the only bright sport of our defense.
Our dline this oast year is a better and more physical dline than BK has had in his career ANYWHERE.

They work by having anl very aggressive and physical running game to set our offense up and on the other side, the dline is the anchor and has been killing it these past two seasons.
