Given the recent NIL lawsuits, unionization efforts, restructuring of AD’s and closed door plans by school admins to seize control back, both sides of major college football are digging in. Negotiations over the next 2-3 years between players and schools are likely to get pretty ugly (bowl opt-outs will seem like the good ole days). And, don’t be surprised when Sankey ends up the czar of CFB by default. His contract was renewed for this.

Buckle up & bring your marshmallows baws, shite’s about to get real.

25, 15, 10, or even 5 years ago I could never imagine giving up being a rabid fan of college football.

I can certanly envision that now. Not fartetched at all and that is sad.

You’d figure that with the average ranter being 45+, we’ve all seen overreacting before. ESPN knows that CFB will always have very strong regional influences and great matchups are great because we don’t get to see them every weekend.
Things will change, but not as fast as people think.

True. At the highest levels, it’s fundamentally no longer the same sport or played for the same reasons.

It’s already ugly. The average college football player doesn’t deserve to be enrolled in college at all. Most of them are criminal hood rats who are gifted at playing a game but couldn’t give two shits about getting an education. Colleges should not be the minor leagues for the NFL or the NBA.

I’m always gonna watch it but the days of the emotional highs and lows are gone. I used to know the rosters like the back of my hand. I remember more players from 2005 bama than I do the current club and don’t really care to learn them until the season. After feeling betrayed by Isaiah Bond. That did it for me. I know he didn’t really betray me he did what he had to but he was one of my favorites before he did anything of note and just to go to Texas. Hard to trust anyone

That feeling of betrayal overwhelmed me when texa$$ destroyed the BXII , with Ou throwing suckered punches & cheaoshots once the rest were down.

Luckily I hadn't turned 40 yet..and Gary Pinkel got us through it.

I will invest...and I believe the game can change or veer back to stability. Some transfer protocols are needed..but I believe in the portal..as many kids were done wrong at many programs by coaches decisions..but there needs to be guidelines. Same with NIL. Reasonable rules must be established and adhered to.

It will never be the same, but college football will always have me

I don't remember who said it but it sticks out to me.

Was CFB better 10 years ago or do you see it better 10 years from now?

I have to say 10 years ago it was better.

College football will be in a serious decline in the next 10 years, and tank by 20.

I guess now that the players will be paid professionals, we can cuss at them during games and call them bums. No more, “oh honey, don’t yell at them, their only 18 years old and college students”

I say now. TV’s are better and cost less. Saw 85” 4k with all bells and whistles at Costco for $1200. Coupled that with nice surround sound system and It’s like a 50 yard line ticket. I remodeled my house so bathrooms are super clean and bought new fridge which is stocked on game day with plenty of my favorite beverages. On game day I walk onto my patio and check the smoker where brisket, sausage and chicken are slow cooking. Man, life could not be better. Only need to learn how to beat Texas.

Makes the sport all that more easy to lose interest in.

Exactly. The test of these clowns are just not happy about the current state of affairs with their program. Vols about about to go off during this NIL era so the rest of you can keep crying about everything.
