It doesn’t matter if Milroe can hit his target, so could Malik Willis.

Malik Willis was a damn good college QB.

but to digress a bit, I don't really disagree with you on MIlroe not being a 1st rounder right now. I don't think that he is at this point, and I doubt even the people posting the mocks that have him going first round believe that. But I also didn't and don't think that Anthony Richardson, JJ McCarthy, or Drake Maye were first round material. But that doesn't mean he can't be a good college QB. I'd say that he was a good college QB last season outside of a few games/quarters.

Thank you for proving my point by listing “way too early” mock drafts that blindly list players. Fox having Hunter at #2 as a 160 lb CB is hilarious when his draft value is far better at WR. Anthony Richardson was inaccurate but a far better runner than Milroe and he could actually go through progressions/throw over the middle. He was closer to Josh Allen than anything. Milroe would need a year like Hurts to move himself up the board, showcasing the ability to throw anywhere on the field and to do it quickly.

The only people talking about the draft are saying it, let’s just end it there. Way too early or not.

AR wasn’t that good and the runner thing? Im not so sure about that. Maybe AR can develop more and we will see more of his potential. Milroe still has an entire year to get better. Hopefully he does.

I think Richardson is a great comp for Milroe in 2023.

I assume that Milroe will surpass AR's development as a passer in 2024.

But like I said before, the vibe amongst NFL franchises is 2025 QB class will be weak. That could be a huge advantage for Milroe if he has an exceptional season with DeBoer. The consensus top QB is likely to go early because the depth at the position is so poor.

The 2025 QB class is so weak that Bo Nix was picked #12 in 2024.

I'd say Hurts mainly because he had Tua behind him after his freshman year. Also, Hurts had a better supporting cast.

Hurts got a ton of love his freshman year. I don't remember a ton of criticism since he was only a freshman and people understood him not being super advanced. He got shat on a lot more the longer he played.

It's gonna be funny watching how guys flip their opinions on Jalen if he comes out this season and balls out.

It is a lot easier in situations like this if you're just pro-team instead of factionalizing over your preferred dude in the depth chart.

If Jalen balls, great; if Jalen falls flat on his face, put Simpson out there.

Jalrn Milroe is a known quantity. Unless Deboer or someone else on the staff is as good with quarterbacks as Lane Kiffin, then there is no helping him. Ty Simpson hanging around is an extraordinary off season win.

So I’ve said for 28-30? Months now that Milroe seems to be a fabulous human being and a great teammate.
I am STILL pulling for him to become a great QB. And I have no idea if he’s at his ceiling or not.

Jalen Hurts SURE found an extra “gear” by December 2018!!! Maybe Milroe will too?

But - Much as I love and respect Coach Saban, one of his (very Few) weaknesses was his “snake-charm” obsession with “dual threat” QBs - NONE of which ever won a NC for him. NONE.
And, let’s be honest - Coach also occasionally let the “inmates run the asylum”, esp. with picking QBs based on popularity with the team.

Laugh all you want, and yes, i DID see the USF game. But “IMO” IF we had gone FULL ON with Simpson starting in Feb. 2023 (the way we did with Milroe) and never wavered (the way we did with Barnett in 2016 and Milroe in 2023), Coach likely goes out with a 7th ring.

Flame away - but let’s also be honest and admit that Milroe peaked against LSux and didn’t play as good or as complete a game after that.

looks like you think that you do have an idea.

How many dual-threat QBs did Saban start while he was coach at Bama?

Blake Sims, Jalen Hurts, and Jalen Milroe? 3 out 7 of his starters. Hardly an obsession.

Sims had the best passing season ever by an Alabama QB up to that point.

Hurts beat out a 5 star pro style Barnett fair and square, and finished his career 2nd in the Heisman.

Milroe still has a lot to prove, but his first season starting was a good one by any reasonable measure.

Tua saved the 2017 season, sure, but he never won one as a starter. Bryce never won one.

please direct me to any real evidence of this.

I am going to go with Saban's decision-making and expertise over TomFromBama's.
