AL will have 4 bball teams in the NCAAT. There were many years when the state had none. Good bball being played in the Yellowhammer State these days.

Samford Bulldogs…fun style of play, high scoring “Bucky Ball” nicknamed for their coach

How long until the UA System tries to kill UAB Basketball?

Good question. My guess, when UAB starts playing in NIL bidding wars for the same recruits. But that might not ever happen.

Only need 11-12 players to field a full bball team, so not quite as much competition as for football players.

You do understand they are now irrelevant right?

During a period where Bama was struggling because of bogus probation, 200 dollars and a signature on a napkin, while a kid was drinking after the title game was a joke, and why the NCAA is not relevant tbh. They put transgender men swimming with women, the NCAA pressured North Carolina to pass gay laws or get no NCAA Basketball games in the state, they are just a bad org.

Anyway, at that time he board felt little brother might pass them in recruiting, et al. Just dumb really, but after 17 years of Nick Saban, Bama is a forever top dog, UAB can not compete with the big boys, everything is changing, to me far the worse, but there's only about 20-25 teams who can complete now, UAB will never compete vs. Bama, so that whole thought process is nor relevant today.

I hate sharing rumors as I feel I should rise above it. Even my 10 year old daughter that loves gossip wouldn't believe that enough to share it for me tho :(

So Birmingham would have 2 teams in. Pretty cool.

Just to be correct, UAB is in Bham city limits and Samford is in Homewood. Both part of the Bham Metro area.

Andy Kennedy was a perfect match for UAB, it being a “mama called” situation notwithstanding.

Glad they’re having some success. UAB has a pretty storied history.

Those two destroyed Auburn High in the state playoffs.

I think it was 1980 or 1981, UAB went to Coleman Coliseum and beat the Kentucky Wildcats.

I stayed for the second game which was Boston College versus Wake Forest. BC was evidently shaving points that year.

Does Alabama still claim the Medical College?

Or... just wants to pay one day...and forget about child support?

Unless it benefits them in some way, then Alabama is NOT supporting UAB or Samford.

They claim them, because they "are our kids."

While repeating the process, for money.

Year after year.

Don't believe it, baws.

They take it and leave.
