You can hope. Dubose never coached a national title game and didn't sniff a 90 percent win percentage. Y'all say this stuff because you were HOPING this would be another Dubose or Shula hire and that didn't happen. Bama just got a coach that took a program that had spotty, to be kind, success and turned them into a national power. In reality, when you saw the hire you said...shite, I was hoping for much worse.

Pretty much spot on.

These types of threads are purely coping mechanisms. Alabama targeted one guy from the time Saban retired and hired that guy within 48 hours.

The faux “mass exodus” that was chirped about on here resulted in Bama still having a Top 3 roster in all of college football - being coaching by a guy who took Washington to a national championship.

Enjoy.

In a desperate attempt to rationalize away and survive the Saban dynasty at Alabama, LSU fans convinced themselves that Alabama was only going to dominate them as long as Saban was there and that as soon as he left they would go back to their previous Saban level of winning.

So what you see with them running down DeBoer is just them trying to reassure themselves and each other that their abusive relationship with Bama is actually over.

Is DeBoer going to win at a Saban level? No, no one outside of Kirby/UGA has a shot at that.

Is DeBoer a top 5 coach nationally according to all neutral pundits? Yes.

Is LSU going to compete for playoff spots most years? Probably

Is Bama going to compete for playoff spots most years? Probably

Does anyone really know who if anyone is going to dominate this new era of NIL minor league football? No.

Threads like this reek of fear. Wouldn't doubt Bama getting in the playoffs at all.

NIL aside, nobody is going to dominate a 12 playoff format. Even a single repeat will be nearly impossible.

Husky Harsin is going to do great, he's a homerun hire, so that means the College football playoffs this season or he's a bust.

I think both Bama fans and Bama haters are making assumptions that will be proven to be wrong.

Many Bama haters think Deboer is going to flop coaching Bama. Deboer is a proven coach in terms to coaching up talent acquired by his predecessor. He's done it extremely well several times and there's no reason to think he won't again. Bama will be elite next season and the year after that. Those expecting an immediate dropoff are going to be disappointed.

Many Bama fans think Deboer will have no issues continuing Saban's recruiting dominance. Deboer has NOT proven that he's an elite recruiter or even a pretty good one. He doesn't have any recruiting chops of note. That is a huge question mark and should be the worry for Bama fans. It won't have any impact on the 2024 season and will have minimal impact on 2025 but from 2026 on if Deboer is bringing in clases in the 5-6 range rather than the 1-2 range like Saban did, Bama will start to struggle more.

Those expecting an immediate drop will be disappointed. Those that think there won't be any drop even 2-3 years down the road are probably going to be disappointed too.

It wouldn't be the first time. Saban recommended Houston Nutt to replace him at LSU.
