As a former swimmer, hearing you call it "water sports" just made me cringe.

That's predicted finishes at SECs. You can in fact finish better at NCAAs than at conference championships. I feel like this occurs in track and field occasionally. Some teams are stacked with scorers who won't score at NCAAs, but are damn good and get conference points.

You swam at Bama, didn't you? What is Alabama's biggest impediment to being more competitive in the sport?

Kentucky is still reeling from the shite show Lars left this past summer…he got canned for a lot of that I don’t want to get into, but he needed to go. The new coach (great guy and former HC at Princeton) has to clean up the mess left behind.

This explains the dust up I got in with him a week or so ago.

It looks like the general team rankings haven’t changed very much from when I was in college. Except the lady Razorbacks used to be way better than they are now, and LSU isn’t the literal bottom anymore.
Hope the SEC shows strong at Nationals, traditionally there are better teams in other conferences, especially some of the Cali squads and Texas

I’m sure Moar will agree with this…but some of the teams are not tapering for the SECs, but for the NCAAs. Florida is the premier program in conference and nationally.

Currently, it's straight up our coach. We hired a woman with 0 coaching experience ever. She's one of the reasons the previous coach quit mid-season

I'm not sure it will be team wide, but teams like uf will have fewer swimmers fully tapered. Getting solid B cuts mid-season affords them that luxury. Jordan Crooks, to use a non uf swimmer example, probably won't be fully tapered... because going 18.4 50 free on-season guarantees your spot at NCAAs.

Arkansas' old coach is now at south carolina. And lsu is a couple seasons in coach Bishop, and doing well despite losing a swimmer like Brooks. Both those coaches coached at the same high school/club team 25 years ago. I feel like they're doing pretty respectably given their schools' swimming history.

Cringe is how the overwhelming majority of the non swimming populous looks in one

A few records night 1 of swimming. UF men improved on a 20 minute old American record in the 200 medley relay. Had stood 7 years, but ACCs were running a few minutes ahead of us and nc state broke it first. It was not an ncaa or sec record though. A lot of great foreign swimmers fricking up our record setting relays.
UF women set an sec record in the 800 free relay, including an sec record 200 freestyle leadoff leg by Bella Sims. Bad arse freshman, who's there to train under/with Ledecky. The year that tranny won the 500 free at NCAAs, Bella was smoking him by multiple seconds, from her junior year of high school

UF men set an sec championship meet record in the men's 800 free relay. It's the lowest record threshold worth mentioning, but still worthy of mention. Fully tapered they have a really strong shot at the sec record.
The positions will change a bit from here, but current scores...
