Second best SEC football program?

I’d say LSU because if they were in the East since the 90’s they would have way better numbers.

Eh. We were pretty bad in the 90s. We were 5-5 vs Kentucky and 1-9 vs Florida. (We were 2-8 vs Bama during that stretch).

As of this fall, the answer is easy: Oklahoma. And it isn’t close.
The Sooners will be closer to #1 Alabama than they will be to #3 LSU, and the league hasn’t been able to say their #2 was closer to Bama than the #3 since the early ‘60s.
This is how the programs rank today:
1. Alabama
2. Oklahoma
3. LSU
4. Georgia (its razor thin between LSU/UGA)
5. Texas
6. Florida
7. Tennessee
8. Auburn
9. Texas A&M
10. Arkansas
11. Ole Miss
12. Missouri
13. South Carolina
14. Mississippi State
15. Kentucky
16. Vanderbilt

Why don't we both cherry-pick statistics in the style of our Auburn basketball friends — Alabama and LSU have combined for 9 national titles over the past 21 seasons.

The next biggest gap is between #17 Auburn and #18 Michigan State. The Top 17 are clearly way ahead of the others. Auburn is as close to #12 Florida as it is to #18 Michigan State.

Well, ignoring what went on in the Jurassic period of CFB and focusing on something reasonable like, say, the last 5 seasons?
UGA - 6 total losses and 2 national championships
Bama - 8 total losses and 1 national championship
LSU - 18 total losses and 1 national championship
So, who is currently the best program?
