It's being reported that a strength and conditioning staffer is leaving Alabama for a job with the Atlanta Falcons, so Alabama fans have to be so excited about Deboer hiring another staffer with absolutely no SEC experience!
Just curious: In the history of the SEC, has any football HC ever taken over a successful program and hired a complete staff with no SEC experience and been successful?
I think this is a perfect example of karma!

Take a wild guess how much SEC experience Paul Constantine had before he got to Alabama. Then, look up where Paul Constantine (and his boss, David Ballou, the current S&C coach) came from, how much SEC experience he had and who they worked with there extensively (before Nick Saban went and hired them away).

Constantine led the strength and conditioning program alongside director of sports performance David Ballou, who remains with Alabama. The two-person setup was implemented under Nick Saban when long-serving strength coach Scott Cochran left UA in 2020.
He had worked with both Rhea and Ballou at Indiana before joining the Crimson Tide in 2020.

Why would Cochran go back to Alabama for a demotion to S&C?
I think he is going to the UFL.

I’m mostly kidding. I would be funny though.

Meyer Announces Position Assignments For Assistant Coaches
University of Florida head coach Urban Meyer has assigned positions for each of the 2005 Florida Football Staff members as follows: Charlie Strong (Assistant Head Coach; Co-Defensive Coordinator; Linebackers); Greg Mattison (Co-Defensive Coordinator; Defensive Line); Chuck Heater (Recruiting Coordinator; Cornerbacks); Doc Holliday (Safeties); Dan Mullen (Offensive Coordinator; Quarterbacks); Billy Gonzales (Wide Receivers); John Hevesy (Offensive Line); Steve Addazio (Tight Ends); Stan Drayton (Running Backs).
> DC Strong - Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina
> DL Mattison - none
> CB Heater - none
> S Holliday - none
> OC Mullen - none
> WR Gonzales - none
> OL Hevesy - none
> TE Addazio - none
> RB Drayton - 1 year at Miss St
1 guy with real SEC experience. How'd they do?
Alabama has the following - much more SEC experience than that Florida staff had.
> RB Gillespie - South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama
> DC Womack - played at Arkansas, Ole Miss
> DL Roach - played at Alabama, Ole Miss, Alabama
> CB Linguist - Mississippi St, Texas A&M
Not to mention the same S&C coach (Ballou) as Nick Saban and the same Director of Football Operations (Ponder).

Good point! If you're happy Deboer just hired an OC that has zero SEC coaching experience and was fired after one year as OC at Indiana three years ago and hasn't been able to get another OC job, then don't let me rain on your parade!

Sorry I ruined your thread with annoying facts. I'll let you get back to it.

I don’t know about you, but I never want a coaching staff good enough to be poached by the NFL for double their salary. Give me coaches nobody else wants and who don’t want to move up the ranks. Continuity is paramount.

Just ask Dabo about his in-house coordinator promotions since their last title
