Texas Longhorns and Sarkisian Outside of Top 5
Seems a bit concerning on the recruiting front for Sarkisian and his staff.
Why? Texas and OU had both great opportunities to really land some top tier HS players as A&M had lost Fisher back in October.
Saban's coaching change was the next big opportunity to flip guys and land some of their HS recruits. DeBoer did a good job at saving that class at #2.
Now don't get me wrong here, 247 has Horns at #6. Certainly better than what Elko could manage to do since Nov 28th but he pulled off an amazing portal class and landed some critical HS recruits while having to build an entire staff and program in parallel. He did manage #8 in terms of avg talent for our 2024 class. Sark did even better on the talent side with a grading of 92.3 vs Ags at 91.4.
I just find it a bit suspect that Sark didnt easily get into the Top 5, if not Top 3 considering the massive opportunity that wont exist next year.
Gonna get interesting next 2025 cycle. I know Elko is gonna have us back in the Top 5 rankings when he has a full year to do it.
And for Texas recruting, the outcome of the rival Ags vs Horns game probably will have some influence with recruits and HS coaches....
Good luck and looking forward to seeing the Horns and OU in the SEC.

I don’t really care about the longhorns and I wished we played Alabama this fall instead of them

They had the 5th best average player rating just under Oregon, and took 5 fewer players. Plus added a great portal class. They will be fine.
Texas will beat the Aggs by double digits this fall.

No you won’t. You’ll struggle to get 8 wins

Yeah the transfers acquired were not amazing. We needed players to fill the roster, we might see a surprise or two but not expecting much from the transfer portal.

Texas (6) and Ohio State (5) took 22 players. The 4 teams ahead of them took 28, 28, 27 & 27.
In the 247 composite, Texas had the 4th best recruit average. Texas also brought in a handful of immediate impact transfers.
Texas should make the 12-team playoff, which is something a lot of teams wish they could say.

No you didn’t. You lost more than you gained and then signed a small recruiting class

Pate said TAMU has 72% of last season's production returning. So much for mad exodus after the Elko hire. Looking forward to the Aggies hurting Sark's feelings this season.

72% of the production that was so awesome it got their coach fired mid season.

Not a Texas fan, I'm looking at this objectively from the outside. They lost a bunch of chaff and added 3 potential WR starters, a starting edge, a starting safety, a LB that will at least be in the rotation, and an iDL that will be in the rotation.
Some of y'all are straight up delusional about Texas

Is it like a pre-triggered thing because you're scared?

It was long overdue.
