The LSU women’s basketball team, despite clinching its first ever NCAA title in 2023, is struggling with significant financial challenges, as revealed in a recent audit. The LSU athletic department reported a nearly $4 million deficit for the last fiscal year, according to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s office, while the women’s basketball team had a nearly $8 million program deficit.

LOL. Those figures do NOT include media rights monies. Plus, the portions of salaries that TAF pays is not accounted for. LSUAD did not lose money in 2023.

Wasn’t the SEC held hostage for scheduling because Oklahoma was too poor to leave the Big 12?
ETA: we also made more money as an athletic department than OU last year according to the NCAA USA today

Furthermore, the 2022 audit disclosed misclassification of nearly $6.7 million in severance payments and an overpayment of nearly $1 million to head football coach Brian Kelly.
What the frick LSU? Do you even have any bean counters working there? No wonder Kelly didn't want to go to Michigan.
6 million, 7 million, what's the difference.

The same dumbfrick athletic director who hired Fisher at A&M and wanted to hire at LSU, decides to pay about 2 million a year to a haggard looking old woman who coaches a non-revenue sport no one gives a shite about.
Ask Metry Mauler. When he was Mulkey Man, he knew about it.

You need to have them count the beans before you hand them out as well, not just after. Do you have a drunken sailor managing payroll?

Goddammit, why can't my employer overpay me by $1,000,000?

Not really slowing them down. If not for basketball coach being an absolute idiot 3 years ago they would be a men’s 3 sport powerhouse and are a powerhouse in the only women’s sport that anyone cares about.
I’m just saying…
