And Lanning was 0-3 versus DeBoer.
Would have loved to have him though. Great coach.
That’s fair
But Dabower lost to a Michigan team that did not throw one pass in the second half
We can argue records all day long
LSU hired saban after we embarrassed him at Michigan State
And he would have never sniffed a Natty there if he stayed for 20 years

Realistically, that should be their floor.

OK
So Debower was your second choice
Lanning said no thank you

The Bama we have known for the last 60 years is no more. Kids born today will be puzzled by the talk of Bama Mystique in 20 years.

Alabama may have been interested in Lanning but they weren't interested in the buyout. If Alabama's boosters are going to come up with that kind of money during a regime change, they're better off putting that towards NIL than a buyout.

What's delusional, and funny, is LSU fans with a coach who's lost 7 games in his 2 years there ragging on a coach who just got to the national championship game, someplace Kelly has only been once when he got totally embarrassed by Alabama. Whole lot of wishful thinking here. We'll be just fine but thanks for your 24/7 interest in our program.

You say this like your coach didn't also get totally embarrassed in the national championship.
If everyone is honest, DeBoer is basically a younger Brian Kelly in a lot of ways.

You’re in for 3 years of misery until you have to hire Lane.
It’s over
It’s over

We will never know for sure.

This is what should be talked about. Probably never got much further than vetting. The buyout is rumored to be more than the $20 million. Something to do with Nike stock too? We will just never really know. But Lanning has a program of his own to sell. Of course he’s going to mention the Alabama talk if asked.

that ranking is an opinion, and opinions are like butt holes. everybody has one!

Maybe Lanning was the first choice. But how was there more than that in a 48 hour period? Saban retired on a Wednesday. Byrne was in Seattle the next day with DeBoer. Outside of vetting several candidates, I doubt there was real conversations between more than Lanning and DeBoer in that short of a time period.
You were talking to the FSU guy. DeBoer was the third, maybe second after the NCAA with MN. Lanning makes too much money. A lot on the side outside of his coach pay.

was their first choice

Bamas absolutely wanted him and was their first choice
We never met with Lanning. He was on a call list, but Deboer was always the first choice. DeBoer is 3-0 vs Lanning and 2-0 vs Sark. A 48-hour search is likely a record.
