I've been saying for years that I'd probably retire with Saban. Not from Fandom, but probably from obsessive Fandom.

I'm 47 years old, and I've been a Bama fan my entire life. I kind of thought when Saban left, I'd take a step back, go hunting and fishing more, and spend more Saturdays with my wife. And, I probably will do all those things. But, the unknown of this team is pretty intriguing. As much as I loved Saban's domination, right now we have the unknown. And that's what drives Fandom.

I really like the DeBoer hire. But, he's not a cyborg. Neither is Kirby. And with all the transfers, this might be more of a rebuilding year than we expected. But, the journey is fun. Can we make it back to the top? I don't know, but we have a better shot that 95% of other teams.

I hate what college football has become with blatantly buying players and the ridiculous transfer rules. And, if that stuff doesn't get fixed, I really am done. But, I think it probably will.

So, I'm kind of excited to see what it's like to go back to being a team that is on a mission, rather than one that's just trying to maintain the summit. It's been a long damn time.

Like Jimmy Stein said on the Locked On Bama podcast, every NC we've won was without Downs and Proctor. I think this coaching staff has their own strengths and I'm going to try to be open to change.

We open the SEC with Georgia next year. That could be fun.

I’m right behind you, I am 41.

Graduated from UA the year before Saban came to coach.

I believe the team will do great this year.

If Alabama pulls off the upset in that one, so many rival fans are going to experience max pucker at the realization that Alabama is not, in fact, dead like they were told.

I’ve always thought I’d be excited for the eventual change and fresh start. And I am.

There are a few things I didn’t consider along the way that are making it a bit difficult, though.

I just don’t know how the sport got itself in a position where a team’s players are auctioned off while they can’t also fill roster spots.

These guys can transfer in April. They could transfer in December and some of January.

What entity wants entire programs crippled in the name of transferring? They have plenty opportunities to transfer if they don’t like the new staff.

What league wants the potential for their biggest brands to be wrecked overnight? And for what?

The journey most certainly is fun. I wouldnt trade driving to Atlanta for the 09 Championship, being huge underdogs, and drinking those Tebow tears for anything.

I like coach Deboer and in a weird way, all these transfers may actually release some of the pressure he has in his first season

I just turned 48 and College Football has lost me. It’s just not the same. It’s sad, but this isn’t the game that I grew up loving anymore

I wish I shared your optimism. I truly hate that I don't.

I came to the Tide late in life (1999 Iron Bowl) and I’ve worked here since I left the Army in 2008. We’ll be back!

I hear you.

I wouldn't be interested in giving less fks if the sport hadn't changed. Having bad seasons never touched my fandom.

However, if I were a fan of golf growing up and they stopped using golf balls and golf courses, but instead played indoors with tennis balls... it's not the sport I grew up loving.

I'm gonna hang in there and give all these changes a little time to see if they correct the obvious MADNESS that it has become. If they take the heart out of the game, the game itself doesn't exist to me.

When you put teenagers and early 20 somethings into this system, you're begging for chaos and destabilization and NO heart whatsoever.

But, for the sake of the crimson and white, i'm not quitting just yet.
