Bama fans…are you upset at Saban’s timing?

If retirement was coming, he could not have done it at a worst time.
Seems like it would have been better for the program to either announce it after the Rose Bowl while the portal was open still for other teams, or wait a couple more weeks which at that point transferring to another school for the current semester would be probably impossible.
This isn’t a troll at all….I get Saban is your GOAT and all but being honest, do you really think he timed this right for the overall good of the program?

I have been a bit salty that it was such a surprise and because I KNOW his arse had 5 more years of great seasons left.
But
I think for himself it makes perfect sense as far as timing goes. May as well get on with it and move into a totally new Era of football with a new guy.

There is literally no good time for it. It’s a 365 job. If he announced in late November before ESD they would be in a much worse position.

He did it when it was right for him. He didnt owe it to anyone but himself and his family.

You can still love him for what he did at Bama while being upset with him on how he handled this announcement from a logistical standpoint.
He’s stuck Bama with little options to replace these players portaling out….or do you think he didn’t anticipate this response?

When was a better time? The players get to go no matter when coach Saban announces. BAMA is going into the current magic portal and pull better payers than they lose. All the assistant coaches are available for poaching at this time.
What is a better time to get the staff and players ready for spring ball?

I understand what you're saying but Bama fans and Saban are good: he gets the benefit of the doubt. I don’t know how else to explain this to you. These “why aren’t you melting” melts are always so strange. And I’ll just add that I agree with other poster, there is no great time to do this. Kids wants stability and even if the portal was open for Bama I bet the results would be similar.

Nobody can be mad about players leaving. This is the new normal. Saban poached players from other teams in the same boat, just like Kirby and other coaches did. Now it's our turn to get raped. It is what it is. This was going to happen no matter when Saban retired.

You have been melting like fricking popsicles on here about the players portaling out and how unfair it is cause now, the portal is closed for other teams so Bama’s options to get players from the portal are limited.
Would you have rather him done it a bit earlier to eliminate this dynamic or waited maybe a week or two so that it would limit these player’s options on where they could portal due to registration deadlines at other schools?
I should have known by now to not expect any reasonable, rational responses from Bama fans.

Nope, no time would be the right time but we had a new coach that would have been near the top of anyone’s list in 46 hours and outside of Bond not a single lost player yet that we can’t replace. Amos would be a starter next year but he only had one year left.

I didn’t read more than the first line of the OP.
Some have been melting sure, but this is more like all the other fan bases celebrating, especially the LSU fans.
