Great week this week. 4-1 against ranked teams in Texas Tech and @South Carolina. Heck of a response by Tygart and the offense when it would’ve been easy to just roll over.
21 hits by the offense in the DH yesterday. Game 1 just couldn’t find the holes to get runners around. Outhit the Gamecocks this weekend. Offense is getting better, but just have to get a little more luck on balls not finding defenders. 17 walks drawn + 4 HBP this weekend as well. So overall, solid, patient at bats. Sweep opportunity next weekend before heading to Kentucky, in what may be the biggest series of the year.

I was definitely having ptsd episodes from the last couple of seasons from our hitting yesterday in the 1st game. After the rational side took over they didn’t play that terrible lol

Slumps are contagious. Against Bama and game 1 yesterday, we got runners on base and had plenty of RISP, but just couldn't find that clutch hit.
Game 2, it busted open on some miscues, but it was enough to get us going and then the bats heated up.
Hitting is contagious, too. Hopefully, they guys will be a little looser heading in to the series with UF next weekend.

Eventually leaving so many men on base will cost us a series or two.

Eventually, you saying this, will make it happen...lol

Get this rational crap outta here.
I need to read and reread your post. This team, on offense, frustrates me. There's a Bama poster on tRant that basically says you just need a couple of those balls off the bats to have seeing eyes. Those couple of extra hits could snowball into something huge.
I've watched baseball practically all of my life and know all of this, but the irrational fandom in me sometimes overtakes the more logical side within. Good post Hawgeye.

That’s effectively what happened yesterday when we broke out in the 7th.
In the 2nd, it was the same MO as usual where we got a couple of charity base runners and plated a couple of unearned runs. That’s great, but the charity runs usually tail off in the postseason when you face better pitching and better defense.
The 7th is where we actually started getting base runners the old fashioned way and driving them in with base hits. Stovall singled to push Edmunson (Rowland) from 1st to 3rd, McLaughlin hit what would have been an RBI single if Edmunson hadn’t scored on a wild pitch, Aloy hit an RBI single, Diggs hit a 2 run double, and Holt hit an RBI single.
That’s exactly the type of inning we’ve been needing to piece together.

If you'd have told me we'd go 4-1 against Tech and SC, I'd have taken that in a heartbeat.
We may not have looked pretty doing it, but those are two good teams, one of them on the road which has been our Achilles heel somewhat this year.

I said in bigD's thread 3-2.
Beat UAPB and sweep the Gators sets us up nicely to sweep Mo. State before we head to Lexington.
That series and the Aggie series in College Station will tell us where we're at as a team, imo

That will be one he'll of a regular season, if it goes that way. Even if the Kentucky and A&M series flipped, that's still a really good season.

We could probably go 6-6 the rest of the way in conference and be a top 8 seed. That’s really all that matters.

We definitely need to take care of business at Baum against a Florida team in freefall.
