Joel klatt wrote an article saying this. The timing and quickness of the hire lends to it being true.
The location makes sense.

Able to interview/gauge interest from Ryans, DeBoer, and Harbaugh.

Sexton controls coaching hires, and raises throughout the SEC and even some outside of the SEC.

This is likely true. He is certainly one of the most powerful men in college football. He consistently gets top dollar for his clients. I don't hate him for being really good at what he does.

Also pokes a hole in the "Saban was just working hard, planning for 2024 and 5 minutes before his team meeting decided to call it quits" narrative.

Yeah, I don’t believe that. He may have been doing routine things but I believe Byrne knew for about a month or two Saban was retiring. Byrne goes to Sexton and works a deal and Sexton says give me a couple of days to work raises for some of my guys and then complete the deal.

Exactly. It also gives the prospective hire plausible deniability and the opportunity to say "I haven't talked to anyone at Alabama, Auburn, Florida, or wherever." Of course he hasn't...the discussions happen through Sexton.
