It's kind of a choke. It doesn't compare to Tennessee 2001, because Tennessee lost to an inferior team. Bama lost to a better team (some would say much better).

Exactly. Some people on here would rather rank this years SECCG above 2001 just because Bama lost. They don't care that their team was the one that upset an undefeated UT team.

Great QBs lead their team to a victory from behind and that's what Tebow did. We held them in check most of the game but Tebow's big body wore our defense down late in the fourth and it sucked for us that we didn't have much depth and our offense couldn't move the ball.

LSU/Ark? (LSU had more talent)
LSU/UGA? (Equal talent)
LSU/Bama? (LSU had more talent)

The answer to this thread is Tenn '01. They were ubertalented. Knocked LSU's starting QB out of the game. They win the game and they are off to Rose Bowl. LSU was heavy underdogs in that game. Bama didn't choke, just got beat plain and simple.

tenn was by far the choke artists. bama benefits from a weak west division this yr and should have lost to lsu and david lee. uf was clearly the best team all season after ole miss.

I know the title of the thread but it seems that some LSU fans would rather talk about our ONE loss to the eventual NC.

I've already said that it sucked losing but the better team won. Their heisman QB led them from behind. We were 10 point underdogs so I don't think we choked at all. We played over our heads the entire game. UF blew every team out they played except Ole Miss (lost on a blocked PAT) and us.

The 2001 SECCG was by far the biggest choke job! That UT team was undefeated and destined to play for the NC in the Rose Bowl but LSU upset them.

#1, 01UT was worse.

but the bama fans on this thread saying 08bama didn't choke is a JOKE.

also (gonna sound uber-biased here) but i dont' know if 05lsu was really a choke in that we weren't playing for anything... either way, it's third at best in this group.

I will rate them like this:

1. 2008 Bama. First #1 ranked SEC team to lose in championship game and lose shot at national.

Wow you are an idiot. Bama lost to a better team, who was favored by 9.5 at kickoff. You hate Saban, we got that, but don't make crap up like this and make yourself look stupid. Choking is falling apart when you should have won. Bama played a solid game, but Florida's talent took over in the 4th. Its not like Bama blew a double digit lead at the end of the game.

The list should look like this:
1. UT 2001
2. UF 1999
3. Bama 94 I believe it was that 24-23 game
4. LSU 2005 (tough season, but they fell apart in the Ga. Dome)

when you look back in a couple years it will say #1 undefeated Bama loses and that will be the perception.

You've got to be kidding. It will say, 'lost a close game to the eventual national champions. Played better than anyone expected and had a chance until a third and goal conversion late in the 4th quarter.'

2008 Bama was about 10 minutes from the BCS championship before they fell apart like a moist roast beef sandwich on a hot summer day.

UT was neither #1 nor undefeated when they lost in 2001.

Those other teams were beaten in regulation pretty soundly. The 2008 Alabama team had a meltdown on the defense, offense, and special teams the last 10 minutes of the game. Otherwise, they would have been playing for a championship.

Sure an underdog can choke and troy did by blowing a 4 TD lead, Alabama lost a 4 point lead to a 9.5 point favorite. Furthermore for an underdog to choke it usually requires that team to have the game "in hand" and throw it away. Bama played solid, but never had the game in hand. Seriously, LSU fans make themselves look stupid when their hatred of Saban causes them to start threads like this. Grow up your making the entire fanbase look like a bunch of brats.

Last I checked it was LSU/UGA in '05

LSU 2005 was not number 1, nor had a realistic shot at playing for the championship.
