I can totally see that happening. Saban is the best to ever do it but man the game is practically not even the same as it was even 10 years ago. At some point he's going to look in the mirror as a 70-something year old and ask wtf the point is anymore. You have to re-recruit your entire roster every season and deal with 17 year old high schoolers demanding more money than AU or LSU will pay them. It's gotta be exhausting.

That's it.
Word on the screet was that some things there had to be ready by a certain date.
Which of course meant that he was scheduling to step-down and head that way beforehand.

The Roundtable guys are in it for clicks - especially since they were booted off of WJOX.

I think we all know there are fewer years ahead of Saban in coaching than behind him...far fewer. I tend to think 2026 is going to be his final season as the head coach. Alabama plays @WVU in the season opener in 2026. That is a nice way to start a last hurrah season: playing in your home state to start the season. So, 3 more seasons is my bet.

WJOX lineup 15 years ago of opening drive + roundtable was awesome. Then that was followed by finebaum when he was still kiiiiiinda straddling the line of still being a local regional dude and not AS nationwide.

He just added Alabama's 30th SEC Championship to the trophy case... And his team is the odds on favorite to win it all next year... Hope he stays but I can understand your angst
Who will be your QB next year? Milroe

I hope not. I want him to become the next Bobby Bowden…
He's already head and shoulders above Bowden. They going to take away 5 national titles to make him equal to Bowden?

Alabama is +500 to win it all on several sites.. Georgia is about the same... Followed by Ohio State at +650

Dont listen to anyone but a Bama man on this for an honest opinion. An opposing fan would only say it in hopes; and a talking head would only say it for clicks.....Saban is not going to retire on a loss. I can almost promise this.

Workaholics rarely retire at the age that the average person would. I would be shocked if he decided to hang it up. He's been working probably 12-15 hours per day for what, 30-40 years? Pretty sure he'd go stir crazy if he all sudden had tons of free time.
I could be wrong but I doubt he's putting in those kind of days anymore, and I'm not sure he needs to. He's had that program running on auto pilot for years.

Saban will stop just short of Bowden and Paterno. He will keep coaching until he is really old, but he will call it at the first sign of a slip.
You won't see Saban coaching a 3-9 Bama team the way Paterno did at Pen State. You also won't see him coaching a bunch of 7-6 teams in a row either like Bowden.

If you listen to what Saban has said about retiring, the dozens of times he has had to speak about it, he has always said he would retire when he felt like he was no longer contributing positively to the program. He just won the SEC, and made the playoff. Not the ending he wanted but he had a better year than all but 2 teams in college football. That does not sound like to me the circumstances he would retire after. Unless he just does not like it anymore.

I'm retired and I tell people that your body will tell you when it's time to retire. When he goes to bed instead of looking at another hour or two of game , practice, or recruiting film, he'll know.
He can make a lot of money doing GameDay or shows like that.

Yes that’s right but it sounds better when you say every kid since 2000 that signed with little Nicky, has won a championship within 4 years

I don’t know if Bama’s radio hosts are better than ours but if it’s even close this means Saban just signed a contract extension til 2054

I don't think it is a coincidence that players are leaving, coaches are leaving, and recruits seem to be hedging as well.
I agree that Saban will retire at Bama - soon

about like he changed to another center. It's recorded he had 33 bad snaps before the Michigan game.
