Kiffin recruits the portal better than anyone. One reason is the lack of elite talent on the roster from high school recruiting cycle(s), especially on defense, leaves a lot of opportunity for portal players to step in and play right away. In this day and age, you also have the social media (another area Lane excels in) trending/domino effect of players committing begetting additional commits.
